monketsharona 51,156
Zedd and Lady Gaga have collaborated many times over the years, but the producer recalls being starstruck the first time he met the entertainer. “As somebody like me back then, an up-and-coming producer living in Germany in my parents’ basement making $20 a month, you would take any opportunity to speak to Lady Gaga,” Zedd — who partnered with Marriott Bonvoy to host a production and songwriting master class at Interscope Records on Friday — told PEOPLE exclusively at the event. Zedd, 29, was nominated for three Grammys this past weekend for his hit “The Middle” (with Maren Morris and Grey) and credits Gaga, 32, for opening up “so many opportunities” for him over the years “I think working on music with Lady Gaga, the most important lesson that I learned back then — because that was the biggest difference of the biggest superstar and literally the most unknown bedroom producer possible — was at the end of the day, we are all the same,” he says. “We’re all just people.” https://people.com/music/zedd-recalls-first-time-met-lady-gaga/

DiscoHeaven23 35,007
With the way his ARTPOP tracks turned out (and aged), maybe he should have stayed in the basement Spoiler IMO the DJ White Shadow tracks were the good ones. The production aged much more gracefully

Didymus 34,379
So weird. I knew him for YEARS before he worked with Gaga, didn't everyone? I don't get why he keeps claiming he was a "bedroom producer" before working with her. Edit: As @monketsharona pointed out, it's probably because he already started working on ARTPOP in 2011. I thought in terms of 2013 but yeah. Edit #2: And as other have pointed out, his first project with Gaga was not actually ARTPOP but two remixes Thank goodness I don't mind admitting when I was wrong. I'll be honest, I liked G.U.Y., Aura and Donatella when they came out cuz that sound was kinda fresh at the time and energetic But now I listen to them and i'm like...this is the most basic 2013 production that sounds like farts

Spectrum was a moderate hit era. 4 minutes ago, DiscoHeaven23 said: With the way his ARTPOP tracks turned out (and aged), maybe he should have stayed in the basement guy is still a cute song

My guess is that he was being hyperbolic and was referring to even before he started getting pre-Gaga EDM recognition. I used to listen to him all through high school (Shave It? lord almighty). Though I do think it's sweet that he acknowledges that Gaga really helped give him big opportunities at Interscope and beyond. 3 points in and ready for more

She confirmed herself that she started to work in ARTPOP only few weeks after BTW was released
