I really don't get all this outrage. The Grammys have always dictated what you preform. The Grammys are a celebration of the years best. They can't have a show where none of the songs were relevant during the Grammy year. These are NOT the VMAs. They do, of course, make exceptions and have become more lax over the years. LG was an exception when she performed BTW during TFM year. The would make an exception for Beyonce or Taylor as well. Ariana isn't at that level yet. She is not at the point where she can force them to do what she wants. The Grammys made the right call and stood firm. Who does she even think she is? She hasn't even won a Grammy yet lol. She just became an A-lister. No shade to her because I like her, but it's the truth.

Eh I hate 7 Rings but I would’ve liked a performance. It’s not really a big deal tho. I love Ariana but she’s not gonna be the biggest star for much longer so she better appreciate this “power” while she still can.

@River it just occurred to me, you probably heard about that rule but it's for the Oscars

 

The Grammy's always have a sh*tload of big name artists invited to perform and often half of them aren't even nominated for anything 

 

But the Oscars are much more picky and formal with this stuff and usually expect you to perform whatever was actually nominated most of the time

 

So you weren't wrong a rule like that I think does exist but it's for the Oscars not the Grammys
