I can't help but notice though that there's very little logic holding his story together. And that seems to be exactly the way far right parties work these days: they call on their supporters to stop thinking and just express "common sense", what they feel is right rather than what they know is right. It's a very different mental framework, and it scares me tbh The world they live in is full of conspiracy, threats, danger and self-aggrandizement. It's everything I stand against, basically. But to get back on-topic, what is definitely most disappointing is that these gay supporters don't even understand that the parties they're voting for now are milking the **** out of them for their anti-Islam campaigns. Just a decade ago they were still saying homosexuality was unnatural, that gays couldn't marry or raise children. And the responses you get are just embarrassing "ok so maybe they were wrong in the past but they're right now!" and some other bs like that. Poor things don't realize it's because of leftist success that they're not treated just like the Muslims they now want thrown out of the country It's like Lega in Italy that 2 years ago were called Lega Nord and wanted to divide Italy and leave the south and they always said **** about the south like they called them disgusting pigs that needs to fumigate for example, but still in the recent elections they got a big number of votes in the south So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

As long as the CDU reigns who's core beliefs and voter base is extremely conservative, as long as Mutti Merkel prides herself in not voting for gay marriage, as long as AKK is putting gay marriage in the same ballpark as pedophilia and incest Germany is not centrist. The surge of the Green Party just is a concentration of liberal and left people in one party it isn't a sign of progress though. 13 minutes ago, Melech said: Yikes. That’s why leftism is going back all over Europe and the world. This “better than you” narrative is really not appealing to get people to vote for you. I already said that I posted pages of information in here that contradicts everything they said. They told be Trump and his party isn't racist and I was immediately able to contradict their opinion because as long as you have no facts you only have opinions. Painting my reaction to be a reason why the left is losing ground is similarly misguided. The people that vote far-right parties would never give their vote to a liberal of a left-leaning party, so we haven't actually lost their vote. There are more apparent and more widespread reason than just SJW.

A huge part of SPD voters and Die Linke voters moved to AfD. That’s why the AfD is so popular in East Germany and the Ruhrgebiet. So yes, those party lost voters to the right. I guess you can read German: https://www.welt.de/politik/deutschland/article144415253/Berliner-CDU-mehrheitlich-gegen-Homo-Ehe.html I never said that the CDU is far-right, they're conservative but not centrist. You don't seem to understand the East German voters very well, do you? East German voters swing from one end to the other because they don't care about these kinds of social issues. They care about their salary and taxes and they (wrongly) assumed that the Afd would help them. Also, the SPD lost more votes to the Green party and the CDU than to the AfD. First of all you were talking about CDU voters who you called conservative. The link you posted is about the party and it’s members. http://m.spiegel.de/politik/deutschland/mehrheit-der-csu-anhaenger-sagt-ja-zur-gleichstellung-der-homo-ehe-a-887559.html The left lost 400.000 (!) voters who switched to AfD. That’s a huge percentage considering die Linke is rather a small party. Combined SPD-Grüne-die Linke lost 1 million voters to the AfD. What the reasons behind it are irrelevant. Your argument that leftist party didn’t lose votes is wrong. They lost a huge amount of voters. https://www.google.de/amp/s/amp.welt.de/politik/deutschland/article168989573/Welche-Parteien-die-meisten-Stimmen-an-die-AfD-verloren.html

They are concerned with immigration, taxes, income but not LGBTQ issues which is why they didn't vote for a party that benefitted LGBTQ people. The reason why they changed their allegiance isn't irrelevant. I don't even know why you would say something like that. They didn't care for their initial party or changed their view on the world so the initial party didn't fit anymore. Most of them don't think about LGBTQ issues. The initial post was about the question why gay men vote for parties that want to harm them. My and many others guess was that they are selfish, bigoted people themselves and they called us fascists in return for that. Now the centrists swarm in and demand that we should all get along but the problem is that I don't want anything to do with people that directly target the life quality of LGBTQ, POC and immigrants with their vote. If someone is so myopic about the consequences of his actions and doesn't even try to understand why he's harming himself, in the long run, I have the right to be pissed. Swallow 12,052
I can confirm this, been voting like that for my whole life. It has nothing to do with gay rights because there are far more important issues that I agree on when it comes to far right political parties. In France a ton of people vote for Marine Lepen Just because they think the EU is the hell of a trap. Since its creation there were people hating it and she got most of them from the get go. Since the EU got its share of failures, corruption cases etc the share of people wanting a Frexit became bigger so she enjoyed it since she was the original "anti EU" politician. If she was openly hating on gays it would stop many of them to get her their vote but since she surrounded herself with gay guys in her party, denounced agressions on gays and never insulted they assume she's not homophobic like the former leader of her party. She also surrounded herself with more person of color and claimed to want to fight for them etc so some will not see her as a racist even if most french people clearly do. That's just like in every country. You always find the partially informed guy who was fooled by some "explanations" telling you that Trump is not racist but actually just talked about the criminal networks from Mexico etc... The homophobia being stronger among immigrants than among the "100% pure blooded french" guys is not a myth. It doesn't concern all of them obviously and you find homophobes among folks of french descant as well of course but its not a myth.
