I can't with you justifying his actions. wow some ya'll on this site confuse me. some of ya'll go on about equality and to love everyone regardless of race, gender, and sexual orientation but in the same vein make excuses about blatant racism and blame it on "time period" not an excuse. As an African-American/Jamaican gay man, it's hurtful to see some of the ignorant comments some of you all make when we support a pop star who preaches love, equality and acceptance.

We do NOT need anyone's coexistence with the KKK. NO ONE should tolerate the KKK. 

It was 1984 but that was decades after the Civil rights movement. Ignorance is not an excuse. This is pathetic and terrible and there's no excuse. 1984 wasn't the Stone Age and people still knew how to be decent. At least they should.

Please don't let those people let you think that we're all like this. This site has problematic people and yes I will say it. It's because of their privilege. Many times it's white gays (not all, don't quote me) who haven't lived through racism and can't see why it's such a bad thing.

 

This isn't just simple racism. This is like someone posing for a picture while acting very flamboyantly gay and the other person next to them about to kill them and saying "die f*ggot". That wasn't okay in the 80s either.

I didn't justify his actions, sorry if it looked like that.

I'm pretty much trying to find the balance in everything and some kind of "gray area logic" because I always find hope in people, even the worst ones, I don't believe in punishment because nobody learns from punishment.

And this is how I look at this situation, for my kind of logic of the "gray area" I think to make him resign of something that happened 35 years is a bit too much, but instead to find a different way to make him "pay" for this, something that will do good to the black community in Virginia for example, like to give scholarships to black students and so on.

This how I see it, to bring good from the bad.

But as Prince Morphine said, he's a politician and has to deal with consequences and which I agreed with and I learned fro my mistake.

So I apologize if any of you felt that I'm justifying racism, it was not my intentions.
