Product Placement in Gaga's Videos

I am watching some of Gaga's music videos on YouTube (as I do sometimes), and just had some thoughts and questions about the product placement, specifically in Telephone. I did a google search about it and saw that only some of them were paid, others were either Gaga's idea or her manager's (at the time) idea. The article I found does say that she used the Diet Coke cans as hair curlers because her mom did the same thing in the 70s. I know she has some more product placement in some other videos. So I'm wondering what your thoughts are on the fact that she did this.  The article also says that the video was expensive, and alludes to that they may have had paid product placements to pay for it. Thoughts? Other products you noticed in other videos? (I know the headphones in Bad Romance are also iconic.)

4:28: Plenty Of Fish dating site.
4:44: Chevrolet.
5:37: Polaroid.
6:24: Wonderbread.
6:36: Miracle Whip.
8:31: Polaroid (again).

I think that, and even Gaga sort of references and alludes to this in her live shows, that Telephone was the epitome of her "pop" career. It was her highest peak, going into filming the video, I think they sort of wanted to bring that "super glam high adrenaline life" that everyone expected her to be living, into this music video, by making it as quirky as possible.. I feel like product placements assisted the rest of the video in doing this perfectly.

You could be right though, they did it to get more funding.. a lot of music videos do this however they end up being tragic with most of the focus going onto those products.. but with Telephone, it sort of helps make the video into this giant extravagant super popstar world that Gaga is portraying as one of the sides of fame.

But who knows though. Gaga could have just been filming and then all of a sudden "hey lets add this it'll be funny".. I wish we got to see her creative process a LITTLE more than what we did in 5F2.

The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥

Of course they were paid placements. But she did it in a way that was so excessive, overly-saturated, that it became a commentary on the state of society and consumerism.

In Paparazzi she promotes Neuro drinks when she’s mixing the poison for her boyfriend..

I loved when she did that. It was like she was taking everything people hated about celebrities - the product placements and selling out, the excessive displays of wealth, the fake tan and bleach blonde hair, the artifice and total lack of relatableness - and just owning it. Exaggerating it and making it entertainment itself.

Ugh how I miss the old her.

gurl have you even watched the paparazzi video :triggered:

@ 5:19

Anyways, I have never been annoyed by a product placement in one of her videos, unlike some other artists :awkney:

Lol I don't blame you, they haven't been popular forever and the only time I tried one it wasn't very good  thankfully it wasn't a huge obvious part of the video, I hate when artists do that

this. that mini-era, was like her final era of being Gp-friendly (at least until last year:laughga:) so i imagine that she made it as basic as possible but with a hint of Gaga, which makes it one of the most iconic MV's of all time (does that even make sense lol)

✨oh the lights dim while we’re dancing yeah the floor is shaking in this disco heaven✨

The product placement in Telephone is supposed to be poking fun at how music videos are flooded with product placement by over doing it, that's why there is a product in pretty much every scene.

As for other videos, sorry but those videos, especially at the beginning of her career would not have had such a big budget without those product placements. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as long as it's done tastefully or in a joking way (Telephone).
