Do u guys think gaga did the right thing by deleting dwuw ft r kelly?

If so,why hasnt spotify wiped off his entire discography yet?

tomorrow if similar allegations came out against francis lawrence, redone , djws etc will Gaga delete her entire discography from the face of the earth? Is deleting ur own songs the correct way to dissociate from bad people?

I think that what led her to delete DWUW was not only the fact that R. Kelly was on it. What made DWUW very problematic was the very sexual, almost rapey, meaning of Kelly's part, combined with his real-life crimes. And the fact that said crimes were publicly known at the time of creation of DWUW.

Gaga did the right thing. It isn't just because she found out now. It was public knowledge back then and she made a bad decision to work with him anyway. She's fixing that now. So, it's not a bad precedent by any means. If we all knew RedOne had serious allegations against him including receipts and she decided to work anyway, that would be a problem.

Spotify didn't delete his songs because that's Spotify. They have whatever contract they do and even if they don't, they're supporting Kelly's business while Gaga is not. Spotify could do the right thing too, by taking him off the platform.

Also, thank u, next. We've had enough threads.

Yes. Gaga had already apologized for the video and collaborating with him. What did deleting the song do? Undo his crimes? The smart thing to do would’ve been to donate the money she made from it to a sexual assault victims charity

DWUW hasn't been deleted but blocked on Spotify

If you have it on your computer you're still able to play it from the album on Spotify

It was a response to OP's hypothetical.

DWUW was initially about the media and negative press about gaga (even mocking her for gaining weight back then), but R Kelly just ruined the song by adding a rapey meaning to it

I don't think it's a bad precedent, it was just a move to make a statement and truly take back a mistake she thinks she made.

I had the same thoughts, actually.

Did she do the right thing? Only time will tell. Did she do what she thought was right to do considering everything? Yes, absolutely. If similar allegations came out against any of her producers like DJWS then I don’t think she’d handle it the same way. The problem is that RK actually sang with her on the track, making his collaboration more obvious than just simply writing it with her. The past is the past, but Gaga did the right thing by deleting it all together as the song doesn’t even preach what she stands for anymore as she stated.

Chromatica will live on forever.
