hardcore1996 1,618
Anyways good for her for saying something at least. Must be hard denouncing an idol of yours, which is what this whole problem is about when it comes to supporting musicians who do terrible things. How long till this open discussion about a relevant topic gets closed lol
Tom Nook 37,808
1 hour ago, Sugden said: it doesn't though there's already an interview of white shadow saying it was his idea, but she went with it anyway so she is still wrong. “Long story short, I mean, it's some space age George Jetson R&B (stuff),” said Blair by email Monday. “My friend Martin was playing me this beat he had done for a remix project like two years ago. I told him ‘you gotta let me have that’ so I flipped it and Gaga and I started writing to it on the tour bus when we were in Europe. “It kinda stayed on a back burner for a minute and then we were talking around a month ago. I was like ‘You know who would sound good on this? R. Kelly’ and she said ‘Yes!’ https://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/celebrity/chi-lady-gaga-r-kelly-do-what-u-want-20131021-column.html 1 hour ago, Wigless said: Omg pls find receipts for this so we can cancel the extra 1 hour ago, Lizzie Jacobson said: Wasn’t it Tara that wanted Gaga to collaborate with him in the first place?? It was for sure DJWS & Gaga “I wrote that song with Paul (DJ White Shadow) and when it was done, I said “well, it’s an R&B song and I’m a white chick from New York, so we better call the King of R&B and see if he likes it”. And he did, he loved it. When he sang on it, it was magical. He’s a very talented person and I feel connected to him because he’s also plagued by other people’s projections of what he is. And that’s what’s really exciting to me about this album. In a way, it’s showing my fans how to have a more detailed and critical eye with music and what they’re looking at.” @12:36 Uh Red Wine... VOLANTIS 16,406
Well whether she knew about it or not, Tara isn't inclined to check the backgrounds of Gaga's collaborators. But Gaga's management is. I'm surprised how people aren't pressing on her former management regarding this collab. I've seen threads about Tara and DJWS but can we discuss Troy? FATCAT 60,042
I don't really buy it, but Gaga should have googled him at least once. Don't scapegoat Tara... This kitten over here (meow)
Miel 15,009
Somebody mentioned a really interesting take, considering their age- at a height in R. Kelly's popularity (Ignition remix), a lot of initial allegations were just... swept under the rug. Not that it was necessarily a good thing by any means, but his popularity literally surged, and the allegations literally just got ignored by the public. People thought Trapped In the Closet was a masterpiece. Tara, likely a stan during these times, probably was blissfully ignorant about everything, much like many others. Again, not a good excuse, but a reality. 3 points in and ready for more
Killa 17,470
Lol i dont follow tabloide but this was on the news for Christ sakes. He was arrested like.... Thats just being ignorant. gag 22,449
So her statement confirms what everyone assumed. Gaga knew about it but she wanted to be provocative and boundary-pushing in 2013, a time where she heavily relied on shock factor. She simply pushed the boundary too far and it was a mistake on her part. I think that should settle this debate. headspin, happiness, DE̤̣A̢̯͔̘T͏͙̗̟̫H̗̙͡ͅ

It could be the same way people listen to Gaga albums without seeking out info on her personal life. I listen to The Beatles and I'm a huge fan but I have no clue what they did outside music. I haven't watched interviews or looked up anything about them. I literally just have their albums and listen to them. I just know their names and faces and that's it. I've been listening to them since I was a fetus btw. I imagine it could be the same with Tara and R.Kelly. It's not completely out of the question
River 116,744
Consider that so many were teenagers during that time and we didn’t really read newspapers (we didn’t have buzzfeed lol) and when the news came to mtv we just moved to another channel, so it was so easy miss it.. Didymus 34,379
Crazy. Like, many Europeans even knew and all because of Scary Movie's popularity I don't know. To me it's very weird that people say they didn't know. Perfectly possible of course, but they shouldn't project that outwards to wider society. Their ignorance is definitely the exception. LGMonster95 13,704
By super fan I think she says that she used to listen to his music a lot. Neither did I knew back in 2013 about the whole mess with him
