It is almost always a tradition that GG winners will be likely to win Oscars as well. Almost.

I don't see ASIB winning Best Pictures.

Even Gold Derby said so: https://www.goldderby.com/article/2019/oscars-golden-globes-2019/

However, anything can happen. We will see the noms first, I suppose. The voting began tomorrow.

I think this thread is about the movie, not Gaga. And honestly, after all the hype from the media AND the experts saying it will win so much awards: Yes it’s a disaster...

How to pull in ratings 101

what kind of bubble do you people live in? :toofunny:

Or, another possible narrative is that the backlash and the upset that are being reported by almost ALL news outlets/social media can SWAY the oscar voters and give ASIB the well deserved awards

I think if ASIB gets a lot of nominations, it will be the bigger loser of the night.  It's not the end of the world,  being nominated is such a blessing

I just checked my Twitter and the backlash that Bohemian Rhapsody and Green Book are getting is HUGE. Maybe now that we are the underdog going into the Oscars, we might win more than just Best Original Song. But I’m not counting on anything.

I still can’t believe Bohemian Rhapsody won Best Picture. And Green Book screenplay over The Favorite. Those two awards were sad.

She won the GG for Shallow, so not a disaster.

For the Oscars, we have realistically only expected a nomination, so let’s see if that happens. If she gets nominated for Best Actress it will be seen as a triumph.  I am sure ASIB will get multiple Oscars nominations.  There can only be one winner after all.

Badly, at this point only expect BoS and some technical category like Best sound mixing and other.

If it win SAG, then it can easily rebound but i don't see it happening since Glenn Close made it a LOCK.

Glenn Close is such a talented actress; even if some people think Gaga deserves the Oscar more than her, they will give it to Glenn because she is being nominated like 6 times and let's be honest, it's Gaga first big role she has an entire life to win it.

About ASIB... I love it but it's maybe... too commercial for the Oscars, too literal. We will see what happens.

I'm content with how the night played out. Everyone was shocked that Gaga and ASIB didn't get the awards and people are calling it a huge snub. I was reading predictions everywhere that Gaga was going to win for best actress.

I mean "disaster" is a little exaggerated, in my opinion. I would have loved for Bradley to walk away with a statue for his work...especially considering that he has never won a Golden Globe. I would have loved to see Gaga win BA, but I was expecting Glenn Close to win. It wasn't terribly shocking.

She still walked away with a deserved Golden Globe for one of her best ever songs. I consider that a great success. So many times artists walk away empty handed for stellar work. I'm proud to say that she is now a two time golden globe winner!

I will not call future award wins hopeless until after the SAG awards.

The Golden Globes don’t guarantee a win...or even a nomination in many cases. Best Picture and Best Actor categories are especially not reliable.

If anything a film like BR winning helps ASIBs narrative. It draws attention to the fact that not only did a film by Bryan Singer (very problematic right now) win, but also drives home the fact that Bradley Cooper, who wrote, directed, produced and starred lost. Academy voters won’t forget that and may take that into account come voting time.

As for Gaga, she had a great night, she won for Shallow and won the red carpet. She also lost to the film vet Glen Close. The fact that a pop star is sitting side by side by heavy weights Close, Coleman, Kidman etc. Is amazing in itself.
