Reputation Tour is boring

Haven't seen the whole show in full but from what I did see, I really think she struggles with stage presence. I just don't feel like I'm watching a superstar, whether she's dancing or strutting about, she looks awkward and out of place, she doesn't own it. It is nice to see her with a healthier body shape, though (I knew she wasn't that skinny naturally, I think she was unnecessarily dieting back in the day). Obviously, the fans go there for the songs more than anything, though, so how you conduct yourself isn't always the be all and end all. I'm a Lana fan and she's far from a natural performer, so I'm hardly one to talk. So, for a fan, I'm sure you'll be satisfied, but a casual listener? Judging by the average setlist provided, roughly 14/19 songs she performed were from Reputation. Not good if you weren't keen on that album and were just going to hear the hits. Perhaps that will put the casuals off from going next time?

Thats debatable... Overall we can all agree to  the fact that this tour only did well because of her past 1989 era hype.. She cant continue to churn out these mediocre albums and expect the public to stick... u know the GP is ruthless. They will go from 350m Dollar MDNA TOUR to 160 Dollar Rebel heart tour in a year or 2. Plus she will be 30+ when the next tour starts so

Agreed. This is the only album she's released since Fearless that only had one mega hit. Normally, her material sinks in with the public much better but despite eye-catching music videos and big name collabs, it wasn't enough. Looks like not promoting and going off name recognition alone isn't going to be enough in the future. And you're right, one huge selling tour doesn't mean you'll pull it out the bag every time after that. Madonna's stock really fell after MDNA despite it only being a 3 year gap (the hype she had when she originally planned to tour Australia faded out by the time she actually went there), Gaga also dipped massively from BTWB to Artrave, even Miley, with the massive hits she had during her Bangerz era, couldn't pull in the amount she did compared to her Hannah Montana days and her Younger Now album did so badly she couldn't even tour. Britney's all but given up touring completely after she failed to be a big money spinner and sticks to residencies now. Taylor, along with Adele and Beyonce are about the only females who make serious bank right now but who knows if that will change in the coming years?

Honestly, I feel this tour was a benchmark pop show. The same way the BTW Ball was. The stage, the music, the visuals.... literally everything was perfectly done. I went on a whim last minute with some friends, I didn’t consider myself a huge fan of Taylor but that show honestly blew me away. I’m still shook!

My friend went and had a very similar experience, even non-Taylor fans were left shook

Taylor is an incredible writer and musician, but I definitely think that her stage presence isn't as large as the venue spaces she occupies (yet). This is not necessarily a bad thing- whenever I see videos of her performing in smaller and more intimate environments, she absolutely kills it. But in these large-scale production shows (specifically her last two tours), I feel like she gets lost in the grandiosity of it, sometimes.

Granted, her transition into this kind of pop environment is new, so I definitely have faith that she is growing into it. Plus, I still think her presence is still better than many male artists who occupy equally large venue spaces, but have no presence whatsoever.

Keeping in mind, this is my opinion from not having attended any of her shows in person. I am open to the possibility that all of this could immediately change if I were physically present at a show of hers.

Gosh I think she is such a boring performer too. She just stomps around with mediocre vocals. I don’t understand it. :cryga: I’m a rock and roll girl. Bring the energy. Bring the fierceness. Bring the instruments. Bring the VOCALS. I don’t need all the perfect high budget productions...I need soul.

That being said, she connects with her fans for whatever reason...and if her fans love her performances then who am I to judge? I don’t really connect with her music...so that is probably part of my judgement on her performances. My connection to her songs just isn’t there, so why would I enjoy the live versions?

One could say performing in a casino is boring too :trollga:

It’s not in a casino boo. It is inside a venue with killer acoustics and not a slot machine in sight. Also Aura scalped me so...

I was there. It was amazing. Best concert I’ve ever seen hands down. I thought she was surprisingly great. That Netflix special, although still good, didn’t showcase at all what it felt like to be there. Camera angles were all ****ed up

I find this interesting and understandable. As not a Taylor fan, I have never been to a concert of hers. So even though I think the Netflix thing is as boring as watching a kettle boil, my opinion is not informed.

I have gone through this with Enigma. The sound, the visuals, the fashion...everything was amazing in person. It all tied together and the energy was out of this world (not just saying this because I am a massive fan...I’ve seen legends perform) Hands down one of the best shows that I have ever been to in all my 30 years. But, some people who watched the periscopes and crappy vids felt differently and I could see clearly that the energy didn’t translate as well to film. The same could be about Taylors Netflix thing.

I was just about to come here and ask what we think Gaga would have done with a stadium tour like this.

I dont know what show you watched, or skimmed, but she put on a fun show. She isnt a dancer, so you cant expect her to do Gaga/Beyonce type of performances. She was also sick during the filming.

I will give you that some of the show might have been a little dull at times, but I don't actually think that had anything to do with her as a performer, but more so with the choices of when songs would be performed.

It's also clear that she made that experience to be something you needed to experience at the stadium. The wristbands, the fireworks, the multiple stages, the snakes.

It kind of kills me when I read people bashing stuff like this, or Enigma. Our pop girls are out here giving you robots, snakes, flying around the areana/stadium, interacting with the fans there, performing the best they know how and then they get shat on.

I thought it was a great show, and I'm jealous that I didnt go like I wanted to.

I didn’t attend but for the average show gross to be $7M. Its horrible if it wasn’t entertaining. :poot:

I only seen clips on YouTube and it was pretty good.

I skimmed through Taylor’s Reputation tour on Netflix to see what the hype is all about when it comes to her big tours and I found it disappointing. The stage is big, the production is very good, but Taylor herself is very boring. When she dances she barely moves and most of the time she is just walking around. Now she does sing but her singing is just basic singing since her songs don’t really require great singing skills. She may be a good songwriter and might connect with many people, but she is just not a good performer.

So I went to this show.  It’s the second best tour I ever went to.  The number one spot going to Monster Ball 2.0.    For this one you had to be there. Taylor turned it out

Taylor Swift is profoundly boring and the cult she has that seems to go out of its way to stampede anyone with even the most mild criticism of her is deeply disturbing.
