Who Died and Made Ellen The Gay Pope?

I don't think Ellen has bad intentions. I actually relate to the part of her that sees the good in people. I don't want to believe that Hart is a bad person or that those comments still reflect him today. Maybe it wasn't the best move for Ellen to do this, but I don't think we should be criticizing her too much for it, because I doubt her intentions were bad.

Just as people who vilify Hart don't speak for every LGBTQ member out there too.

As disgusting and inappropriate as his comments were, as a LGBTQ person of color, I'm not offended by them because those were comments made a decade ago, and they're not representative his character today.

i understand your point of view but for me the problem is that he should not moderate the oscars now. Because his post are homophobic but also transphopic and transmisogynie. And I want to watch the oscars but with him as the host i will not watch them! Not becaus i want to end his carrer or anything i just think this is an important discussion which should be held by not a cisrichstraightblack person. But maybe by a transactivist who is funny or a queer black trans supporting person or both.... The American queer comunity live in TrumpsAmerica right now and the Oscars (the Hollywood industry in general) are always pendering to LGBTQ audience but rarely really support their cause or take action... So why don´t we use this now to demand action so that someone like Laverne Cox host the oscars or Peppermint or....(the list is endless long i am to tired to write them all together...) In Love a white  queer trans women

I mean, I think it's valid for people not to want him to host the Oscars. I just only have a problem with people demonizing him for these old tweets.

I don´t care about that a few years back i said transphobic **** and look at me now :D if he and ellen wants to appologize? for real this would be the right thing to do he can host the oscars literally any time ...It´s not like he will be homeless or something just for hosting the oscar not this time :D Maybe his next tour or comedic special or whatever... It´s just I don´t get it why that would be such a hard thing to do. Like why won´t rupauls let drag Kings compete in RPDR or transmen after he said something problematic about transpeople... He just hired an already out transwomen to be in his all stars season by why don´t he open it up to them... He has the power to do so as a queer legend...The same with ellen right now... I get the kidness think and all but you can be kind and stay true to your LGBTQ advocate position....(Sorry for this long ass reply :) )

The people chose her, she arguable the most iconic and loved gay icon today. WP is salty that a simple tweet from her is most influential then 1000s articles from them.

Hmm... but those comments ARE representative of his character today. I think it's totally disgusting that he is playing the victim here and that Ellen of all people is defending him! 2008 wasn't that long ago. And as a public figure, he needs to be held accountable. The comments he made back then were childish, wrong, damaging and vile. He does NOT deserve to host anything.

One question to those defending him...

If Kevin Hart should be forgiven because he said these words 10 years ago and might have grown up and changed now. Should we forgive Trump for the "grab them by the ***" remark that he said in 2005 and clarified that it was just locker room talk?

Correct and to the point. This is not Ellen's part to do. She is not a gay man which was the target of Hart's words. She may be a lesbo, but doesn't make her the spoke person for the whole community. Nobody appointed her to either. She should just stay on her lane on this matter.

He was Her guest, on Her show, where she can give Her opinion. If millennials are triggered and being ridiculous (again) on social media...

Well, that's not Her problem.:vegas:

Ellen has a good heart and makes mistakes just like anyone else. Can’t deny her positive impact on our community and many other’s lives as well.

Cuz gays totally never talk of the LGBT comunity when they just mean gay men right? They could care less about lesbians and trans people like ugh I love being erased all the time by gays and bisexuals :vegas: So now Ellen talks of the LGBT you’re pissed cuz she’s a just a “lesbo”
