Yes totally. Someone was just casually scrolling down thousands of his tweets when he was announced as the host and just found those 10 year old tweets by mistake. Give me a break.

Obviously there was intent here. But it's not like there was much effort behind it. That dollhouse tweet of him is INFAMOUS. It's super easy to recover that and spread it anew, that is not an attack, that is simply social media.

I’m honestly surprised at all the hate towards Ellen. It is so important to know that people change. I’ve seen it with my eyes. I’ve seen people who were once homophobic realize they were wrong and are now the strongest allies I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen that homophobic parents change their minds once their child comes out to them. Barack Obama used to be against same-sex marriage but his daughters would tell him about their friends at school with two moms, and he changed his mind on the issue and ended up helping America legalize same sex marriage in all 50 states. Kevin Hart is capable of change, just like anyone else. And I’m sure that if Ellen, who has canceled homophobe’s appearances on her show, felt that he was homophobic she would not have had him on her show let alone show him support. I don’t believe he’s handled this entire thing perfectly, and I think he should still officially apologize, but Ellen wouldn’t support him if he wasn’t deserving of our respect.

Yes we know that people can change, that we shouldn't punish people for their sins forever. The question is, has he? Just because he (with some great reluctance and pushing, it seems) issued one or two PR team-authored apologies on Twitter doesn't necessarily mean he's changed profoundly as a person. It can simply be the ego of a man trying desperately to save face. It can be genuine too, but it's still early (yes, early) to draw any conclusion. We've seen him repeat the same crap in some interview from 2015, didn't we? That was just 3 years ago.

 think he did the right thing "stepping down" when he still didn't have it in him to immediately apologize wholeheartedly for saying the things he said, and not just "if it offended anyone" too. Maybe he indeed has seen the wrong in his ways; maybe he's transformed into a true ally. But y'know, it would have been nice to see this profound regret and resolution to improve himself when he wasn't facing consequences. In the current circumstances, there is no knowing for either sides of the debate whether or not he's left his prejudices behind. There is no way of seeing through blurred lenses; everyone is suspicious of everyone else. Come two or three years, we'll see where he is in life, what he says then, what things he promotes, what beliefs he holds. Until then, let him not host the show. Just leave the man be. This issue doesn't deserve the focus it has received.

I criticize Ellen for trying too hard to give him a redemption arc as well, but nevertheless she too shouldn't receive the severity of the hate she gets for this. We all like to believe in the best of our good friends. She did what she thought was right.

Why are so many people on this site so willing to go out of their way to excuse rich, powerful people's homophobia? Yall act like these "jokes" weren't just as homophobic then as they are now and that he's since become a queer rights activist lol. Plenty of other people have had problematic tweets dug up and been just fine because they have records of being good people who probably just made a bad joke once. Kevin Hart isn't one of them. Homophobia has been a part of his routine for years. He released a a special in which he advocates for beating your child if you even think they might be gay ffs.

Also, lmao finding tweets is easy, twitter has a search function. Most likely someone who knows about his homophobic bs spent 30 seconds to search "@kevinhart gay" and that was how they found the tweets. No one was wading through thousands of tweets in some desperate bid to smear him.

He claims to have apologised. Sure, his PR Team issued a typical apology re: the comments. He has never actually been recorded acknowledging his mistake and actually audibly apologising. All he can bring himself to say is that those tweets are in the past, and he's different now. 

If he was, he'd have looked the camera straight in the face and sincerely apologised for his idiocy and for his homophobia but he hasn't because he is still homophobic and an idiot.

People do change, but not by saying they have. They change through visible actions, and he hasn't acted in a way that suggests a change re: his homophobia.

Honestly not Ellen's finest work.
