Werewoof 2,468
Honestly, there are SO many valid opinions in this thread on both sides of the disagreement. I personally fall in the middle ground in terms of being satisfied and wanting more. I honestly believe though that Gaga might need to just keep with her style right now. I know she has her team, but it can be very difficult sometimes to pump out something outrageously beautiful every chance you get. As someone who does art as a very light hobby, it takes me so long to recharge from a project. So I can’t even imagine how long it takes for her. Art can take a lot out of you emotionally, mentally, and for Gaga, physically as well. This show proves that she still cares about her more extravagant persona. She didn’t leave ”CrazyGa” to die. But she may just be tired or in an artistic slump. Like when a racer has tirelessly ran 4 races then needs rest. They may want badly to race even more, but can’t find the drive to, even though the desire is there. I think it’s similar with Gaga. She’ll be back to her fully fledged creative self (in some form) sooner or later. But I think for just a bit longer she needs to breathe. I know eras like C2C, Joanne, and ASIB (and now maybe Enigma) seem very low strain on the “creative” and “artistic” levels for some people. But I think we forget how stressful it probably was/is for her to do these projects. She has a lot of people she wants to please, let alone herself. (Sorry if this doesn’t make much sense, I tried haha) (PS @Didymus your points are always so well written, thought out, and argued calmly and professionally. Props to you 💕)
doppelganger 3,933
This is the same fanbase that meltdowned upon seeing the “tiny and underwhelming” superbowl stage. And the same fans thinking that having projections and tacky staging is what Gaga needs. The same people that meltdowned over crowd noises in Shallow and consequently turned their fangs on Benjamin Rice.

People really thought she was going to do a 6 hour live performance of her entire discography, drop a new album, and hover from Las Vegas to NYC and back. GypsyBabe 22,836
I’m so over this forum tbh. It’s like Gaga can literally never make you all happy. I had a wonderful time at the show, as did the other 4,999 people. Doesn’t it get tiresome focusing all of your time and energy hating every single thing Gaga does? Nothing is ever good enough. Nothing is creative enough. She never wears what you want her to wear? Have the wig that you want? Release music when you want? Have the creative team that you want. The setlist could always be better? Everyone complained that she doesn’t do DITD anymore...she does it and the outift is garbage. So many fans wanted fun wigs, preferably teal, and now the wig she chose is ugly and fans are hazing her hair stylist online. I am a fan of Gaga because of her voice, talent, and creativity...NOT because of a wig or her lipstick shade. That sh*t is shallow as hell and not why I am a fan. I am sick and tired of hearing people who weren’t even there complain. You can’t get the energy and complexity of the show from a cellphone video or a periscope live stream. Simple as that. ⚯͛

One thing I keep thinking as I watch these performances from Enigma is how underneath it all, it’s the same woman. Whether she’s wearing flowing blonde hair, anime video-game hair, dread locks, neon orange or dark red lipstick, it’s the same girl behind the aura singing her heart the out, speaking about love an acceptance, and expressing her art for her fans. chiuga 1,970
I think most of the fans expect a Katy Perry / Madonna kind of show that are full of modern visuals and screens but they never grasp the fact that Gaga doesn't like this type of shows at all and it's something they will never get from her and sets her shows apart from other pop performers. Her shows since the FAME ball has always been more theatre-like production put into arenas/stadiums. The focus is always on telling a story / bringing the audience onto a journey with a rock spirit behind including the Superbowl where you saw that she didn't use any huge LCD screens like Madonna/Katy Perry did. It is not that she or her team are incapable of or can't think of using them but she prefers real props and simple ideas that are more HUMAN. Her shows have always been more like a rock opera/theatre than an eye-candy pop carnival since day 1.

This I am getting very sick and tired of the negativity from her online “stan”base and really don’t want to be a part of it anymore. You don’t have to love everything the woman does, but as a fan, you should be supportive...just as she has always been supportive towards her fans. It’s a shame. It’s just not my vibe. I try to see the good in things, not make everything ugly. ⚯͛

Whenever she speaks in a show she wants the audience to cheer for and celebrate themselves instead of applauding her -this is also veeeeery different from other pop performers (without name dropping). She doesn't want to be your queen but want us to be our own queen.

Im sure it’s ground breaking in its own way, and idk what show you watched, but the tech was modern (means current, not futuristic fyi). Y’all really thought she was coming w a hologram bc it looks like some of y’all don’t know a lot about modern tech, and claim everything is made my Intel (not the only tech company bye) when they’ve never said anything about their involvement. (True holograms aren’t here yet bc we can’t figure out a way to stop light but that’s going off) The Intel part is so spot on, Intel hasn't invented drones and stuff, they just market their expertise in those technologies to artists and thats it I don't think the Grammys 2016 would've been much different if it wasn't a Bowie tribute. They had to fit all that stuff on stage, set it up and tear it down during live broadcast for a 5 minute performance - Gaga just simply couldn't fit more stuff into that performance. They made slick trailers for the performance, and for fans it was already enough to cement Intel in their minds Even though from a computer science perspective, it was still fascinating. They keep her in a comfort zone. She needs foward thinking, ahead of the curve, professional people. I think you need to have people you trust when you're collaborating on something creative to feel safe and vulnerable enough to actually produce meaningful art.
