Lord Temptation 11,209
4 hours ago, Nino said: Some of you talking about Enigma obviously know nothing about Las Vegas or the US. We need to understand what Las Vegas is all about and why residencies are there. Most of this is contained within just FOUR MILES. That's just under 6.5km. How are they able to get Cher, Mariah Carey, Elton John, and Lady Gaga all crammed into here and still sell out night after night? The answer is obvious but I don't think it sunk in for you people whining about Enigma. Enigma exists to force people to book Las Vegas vacations. It's not inherently about the concert. artRAVE didn't make as much total as she herself is personally getting paid for this. You should have seen some red flags. Las Vegas is also the only the 30th biggest Metropolitan area in the United States. That should have ALSO have been a red flag. Las Vegas is 263 Miles(424km) from LA, 2,233 Miles(3,593km) from New York City, and 1,524 Miles from Chicago(2,452km). So there's no locals to buy tickets and the nearest Major American city is 4 hours away, the others you couldn't realistically drive from. How are they making that enormous price they're paying for Gaga and the production if my hotel was only a few hundred dollars and the locals aren't buying the seats then Nino? MGM Resorts and it's competitor, Caesars Entertainment own most of that 4 mile radius. The Park MGM and all it's immediate neighbors are ALL owned by MGM. The shops you go to? Pay rent to MGM. The restaurants you'll eat at? Mostly owned by but some are also just spaces for rent by MGM. That street vendor you bought a spray painted galaxy canvas that says viva Las Vegas from? Pays MGM to be there. Even if you THINK you're taking your business elsewhere in Vegas, somehow, somewhere, one or both of these companies is making a profit off it. This is what Las Vegas residencies traditionally look like AT BEST. 10 years ago this was the best show Vegas had ever seen. So excuse the rest of us for not entertaining the idea that Enigma was underwhelming. She literally flew onto the stage, brought back the 'old gaga' everybody has been whining for since ARTPOP ended, and also literally sang Scheisse from a gigantic robot while the entire stage was on fire. It's a completely different level of showmanship for Las Vegas. Even Britney's show was considered an incredible step up and looks sloppy compared to what we got last night. I've gone to Las Vegas almost every year of my life for vacation and Enigma is NOT like anything that cities' ever seen before. Most Arena tours outside of the main pop acts don't even have that kind of budget when playing for 20k people every night. Eh, I think it's pretty mutual. They didn't force her to sign on. She gets stability, a huge budget for the show, and the lack of worry that comes with a tour. Plus, she doesn't have to answer to as much PR stuff as she otherwise would on a tour. Sure, she has her hits, but she doesn't need to balance the hits with an album promo now in her setlist. So there's a lot of creative leeway for her. Yeah, Vegas gets something out of it, but by that logic every city she visits on a tour is using her for money. No duh, they are, but so is she. It's fairly symbiotic.

glamour show 103
very pathetic post. the "giant robot" aka giant puppet that has been used in mutliple other incantations. yes she's in Vegas who really cares. but this show isn't artistic at all... it makes lazy cultural references and takes them literally as opposed to making something new. Nicola was fired because he wouldn't show up, Brandon has no sense of style or how to reference in a good way. the fame ball, monster ball 1.0, Joanne world tour. all more contemporary and forward thinking than this. it wreaks of commodified nostalgia and the storyline doesn't make sense with the songs. gaga is a great artist and has produced great works but this isnt it. performing shallow as the encore in a t-shirt.... crackhead behavior. I’m glad you know the inner workings of her team and their work ethics. its the 10th anniversary of The Fame, of course she’s nostalgiac for her game changing debut. And it’s an ENCORE. It was more weird when her encores were fully produced spectacles. That defeats the purpose

That defeats the purpose I know Nicola as an acquaintance and I work at V files. this isnt me being negative but nostalgia isnt art if youre going to make a reference do it the right way work it in with the story... alot of it felt pointless. (the fame, paparazzi, Alejandro, the concept of the healing place, etc) none of it was special or original. to go from the Joanne world tour to this is a regression. yes Joanne world tour lacked props but it fit the album concept and furthered the concept forward. this is essentially comicon/monsterball the musical. its so low brow of her. she needs to fire Sarah, Brandon, Richy, and be told no once in a while or actually surround herself with artists and immerse herself into subculture beyond a misunderstood reference. Jarvin 1,389
Some of you are just ****ing assholez!! She served an amazing setlist, theatrics, amazing vocals and most of all SHE DID AMAZING. She works her ass off and now wants to enjoy performing in a fixed place for some time while taking care of her body.. some of you need to stop feeling entitled. She’s a popstar. Not your ****ing mom. Thank her for what she has done for you but don’t criticize her. Its not for no reason that she is not as close to us as in 2012. Its because we are a really toxic fanbase at times and it made her feel awful and used. Meeting her and recording everything - asking about innapropriate things etc etc. Just ask her how she’s doing, thank her and hug her. Social media has made fans go crazy. Some of y’all are obsessed, senseless and mean. I’m so pissed about all these negative reactions about the show. She served EVERYTHING I’ve been reading we all wanted to see. And now STILL we are bashing her? Well bitch please PS. i snapped
AndrewGr 6,022
I'm sorry, can someone point me the thread in which people complain about the show? Literally every single video I've seen is perfect (even for me that I didn't miss the "old Gaga" for a second) and I can't possibly think which part of Enigma can feed the little complainers... Didymus 34,379
I’ve seen Cirque du Soleil in Vegas so no, this does not convince me lol. For a high profile pop cultural artist this show is solid but not great by any means. Like, imagine you saw this exact show performed by Katy, Taylor or Ari. Don’t lie. You’d make fun of it and trash it to bits. Sorry.
Whispering 18,865
Exactly! This show is a top notch show, especially for Vegas. The professional reviews and those who attended are beyond impressed.
Karl 3,392
For a random tourist family coming into Vegas for a vacation this is going to blow them away. It would have been incredible as a normal tour but as a Vegas show its lightyears ahead of what's expected for a Vegas show. Just think of it more like Broadway or the west end: 'hmm what shall we watch after dinner tonight? Gaga or Cirque du Soleil? ' and then seeing that show it's different to booking and waiting a year to see your fav on tour.
