The Negativity (about Enigma)

I understand that alot of fans had high expectations. They let themselves get carried away by the rumours and the theories about the technology that they thought it was going to be something groundbreaking and never been done before. They let themselves get carried away by the hype of new music even though we just had ASIB.

I've seen criticisms about the wig because it's “cheap” and the neon lipstick “needs to go”. But why? I honestly think the wig is so cool and the lips too, it makes her stand out and it fits the neon theme.

I've seen criticisms about the robot because it's stationary and the legs are controlled by dancers. “We need something to look at while she's just singing and not doing anything”.

Do you not realise the star of the show and main spectacle is Lady Gaga. Why do you all need the fancy shmancy gimmicks when the person with the voice is right there. I understand the need for a theatrical show but nothing should take away from Gaga. Imagine if she did have all the special technology stuff, it would overshadow her and do I really have to reiterate that she is the star of the show.

I think it's a sad world we live in when people need the visual stimulation because they are incapable of living in the moment and enjoying the atmosphere and the music. So what if the songs are the same? This show is supposed to be for everyone. It's not just a little monster show like The Monster Ball was.

I didn't watch any live stream, I only saw videos and HQ photos once I got up this morning and I was honestly wowed. It feels like Gaga is back and I came to GGD myself expecting to see so many “yaaaaassss!” and “Crazyga is back” but was shocked to see a list of negative threads. :noparty:

Imagine being Lady Gaga all hyped for your show and wanting to see what the fans have to say and you log on to GGD to see reactions and there's nothing but negativity. It's disheartening for me as a fan and that feeling must be amplified for Gaga. It is starting to feel like the woman can't win whatever she does because everybody is so hard to please. I honestly don't blame her for not wanting to tour the world.

I think you all need to check why you are a fan of this woman because you all seem to think she needs to fulfil your own personal visions of what the show should be. I admit that I can be the same at times. But this is Gaga's life and we are just spectators of it and we need to realise that the artist is in control. If she wants to sing Beautiful Dirty Rich instead of Gypsy for example, that's her prerogative.

The show was described as an odyssey of her hits. So why are people surprised when she delivered exactly that?

I totally agree, and I will forever support anything she does. I just think that because what we come to expect from a Gaga show is big spectacle (because of tours such as The Monster Ball or Born This Way Ball), people are picking apart the spectacle of the show, particularly as that was its premise (rather than the stripped-back jazz performances). Regardless, she's still an amazing performer without all the trimmings, but the spectacle is generally the thing fans look out for at a Gaga show.

We have no legal choice but to stan

I think i might have to stay off this site today so much negativity. This is supposed to be a fan site some people really are a mess.

Well I won't call negativity, it's just having an opinion and as long as you do it respectfully is fine

I think the show is nothing new, I liked some parts of the set but overall is just okay. The way she teased it seemed like it was very high tech changing game show, but it is something have seen before from her

But as I said before, I'm happy she's performing again and doing it as she wants!

... and now i just sit in silence.

I think monsters should understand that this is something different than Vegas shows have had before, in general. Sure, maybe it's not EXTREMELY innovative or new for Gaga's standards, but for Vegas concert residencies, it is something else.

"It's not just a little monster show like The Monster Ball was."

lol what

The GP ate up that show :air:

Anyway, too early for me to judge it all but I really dislike the way a lot of fans are barring negative comments with the whole "imagine you're Gaga and you worked so hard on it"; "you set yourself up for failure by wishing for new music",... excuse train. Maybe some people just don't think it's a good show and have their own subjectively valid reasons for it :ohwell:

Like, yeah, I was the one who made that "we need something to look at" comment but I stand by it. I just see no other of her peers do something like that. It looks lazy and unprofessional to use such a huge prop to just be able to stand somewhere and sing and call that a performance  My opinion is based on the shows I've seen, pop and otherwise, and nothing you can say will change my mind about that. I've just seen better uses of props like that and I expect Gaga to bring the best of the best. Because she's supposed to be the best of the best.

This always happens with every tour since 2014 lol. artRAVE looks the way it does because it's supposed to be a party rave moment, Joanne Ball looks the way it does because it's country and what do you expect, high fashion? Now this :rip: Always some excuse to cover mediocre aspects about her show, it's so tiring. If we'd use those excuses for everybody we would stan for every pop girl out there :ohwell:

Well, at least she isn't standing there and lip syncing. She is giving us vocals.....that is a performance, but its your opinion...even though you seriously drag everything Gaga does.

Everything you say always has this scathing attitude behind it. It's like you enjoy ripping other people to shreds for having different opinions and I hardly ever see you say anything nice about Gaga.

FYI, I know the gp loved that show. That's not what I meant. Don't be so pedantic.

It's not mediocre though. You've set the bar too high. For a Vegas show it doesn't need all the extra stuff. Why don't you understand that?

As usual monsters are too difficult to please. I think she did a brilliant job. And people need to learn to keep extreme negativity to themselves, my heart honestly breaks for Gaga.

I'm an ARTPOP bitch, baby

VOLANTIS

Okay honestly other than some of the outfit choices, this tour is pretty bangin'. She can always change that. I was disappointed after watching the potato clips but after seeing some on YT I don't think this is as bad as I first thought. If a show can grow on you this is the one.

I'll lift you 3 inches off the ground and drag you to a meter and a half

It is a performance but it's still not what I expect from her :rip: I don't get why that's so shocking, she's given us gag worthy "standing still" performances since day one :air: Think DIDT and SHICD at the Monster Ball 2.0, think Paparazzi at the Fame Ball  I base my criticism of Gaga based on what she's done before and what she should be doing now based on a reasonable expectation of progress :ohwell: While I think the visuals for this tour are amazing and a definite step up from previous tours, the performances I've seen themselves feel like they wouldn't even be acceptable for The Fame Ball, let alone her highly anticipated Vegas residency, that's just my opinion.

Anyway, I'll shut up about it now. I just wanted to address what I meant by my comment since it was directly referred to in the OP.
