I have noticed it in few music videos lately:

I know I've seen it elsewhere but I can't remember where

I can’t see the references but I assume it’s the music video directors who are becoming popular and defining a certain look. Whoever directed “Hotline Bling” really set a trend for lighting, if that’s what you’re referring to

I think they are just vibrant colors  this magenta+blue combination was really a trend for the past years

I think it’s just a normal lighting element to use in videos and photos. I’m in art school for this and it’s one of the first lighting techniques we were taught to use.

Tumblr-ish, indie music videos were the first one to use pink lights and this kind of aesthetic. But I think it's pretty common,  wouldn't call it a trend.

You're just watching recent music videos. If you watched videos from the 70s and 80s you would see lots of pink stage lighting too.

I think pink + blue neon lights (some call them "bisexual lighting") were known as a very dramatic cinematic color combo that became really popular in blockbuster films around 2010 or so and, with the revitalized desire for music videos to be cinematic, it became a popular music video aesthetic as well!

some movies that have used it prominently recently are Moonlight and Drive
