If Jews live their lives without bothering in anyone why would someone feel the need to change that... I am a gay person that does not believe in any religion or church or book for my own reason but, in my opinion, everyone has a right to believe in something no matter what god or religion that is as long as their religion and beliefs do not hurt other people and other lives... Only people from a religion that I really hate are those extremists that hurt other people in the name of their God... But that's just a totally different story... Instead, researchers have suggested that the far-right ideology that is ever growing, particularly in eastern Europe, seem to have a stronger correlation with the rise of hate-speech and discrimination of minorities. Sygkelos (2018) shifts his attention to mostly islamophobia and the leader of the far-right Bulgarian political party ATAKA, Volen Siderov, but repeats in his discussion that this is readily comparable to issues of anti-semitism in other parts of Europe and the Western World. Personally, I personally think the issue is very complex, and this rise in racism, hate-speech, etc. is attributed to several factors, not just one group of people or religious group (that GGD members seem to love to jump to). Without a doubt, there are likely some anti-Semitic individuals that have entered from ME countries, but, there seems to be a greater link to the global conservative ideology that seems to be more common now than in the past 5-6 years (see Trump, Brazil, etc.) (Öner, 2014). Interestingly, the Öner paper I included was published in 2014, years before the refugee crisis entered mainstream discourse, and even then, researchers were suggesting that the dangerous fear mongering tactics seen in many far-right European campaigns were feeding antisemitism, this time in Germany. I think the dangers these authors have suggested are far more nuanced and convoluted than what many members are trying to suggest. Islam wasn’t a big part of society during Ottoman Empire where Jewish refugees escaped to from Spain and Portugal??? That’s false. The woman in veil during WW2 was clearly religious. Mosque in France providing refuge for the Jews, again - religious people. Sorry, I know you’re looking for a scapegoat, but this ain’t it. Sayyid Qutb had some antisemitic writing and extremists of today like to read his books, although he was not a learned Islamic scholar. Again with generalizations... not all countries are the same, many are destroyed and destabilized after years of war and extremist groups, others are under dictatorships, you can also flip and say that son of Israeli prime minister recently said that all Muslims should move out from Israel. And with new national law, minorities are second class citizens in Jewish majority country. But you wouldn’t say it’s the fault of Judaism or Jews in general, would you?
