You' re GOOD at make up + recently famous for placing a plastic vagina on Bjork's face and suddenly...

You feel like you can judge the artistic integrity of a GREAT and all-round artist famous for many reasons since a decade like lady gaga...:ladyhaha:

I love hungry, but I don't like what she said. However, I feel we have to understand that not everyone will be pleased by Gaga's artistic and career choices.

Don't stoop down to hungry's level and hate on bjork just because she trashed Gaga :lolly:

Here is an excerpt of the interview where she talked about Gaga.

Drowned in Sound: As she said earlier, the songs are the core for her. I wonder whether she sees a triumph of style over content in the contemporary pop charts. Is Björk interested in or by Lady Gaga?

Bjork: “I definitely like some of the outfits she’s worn. I definitely admire her for her courage – it was getting really boring! It was like everybody was just really conservative, and nobody was taking any risks. I love theatrical stuff. I think all of us have a theatrical side and a not-so-theatrical side. The music? It’s not my thing. I mean, I don’t judge it. One thing good about music is that you can have all sorts of music. You can have… easy-listening new age music…which actually is even bigger than Gaga! Classical music. You can have billions…”

Drowned in Sound: There’s room for everything.

Bjork: There is room for everything. Something that is quite common though, and I’ve noticed it even though things have changed a lot, is that there always seems to be room for a lot of male singers, and they don’t get asked to duel. You have Jay-Z and Kanye West being best mates. There’s always room for many male characters.”

Drowned in Sound: Whereas women tend to be pitted against one another?

“Yeah, still it’s like ‘Christina vs. Britney’. Why? I don’t want to be put in a position where I have to attack her. I thought it was really weird and unfair when M.I.A. and Joanna Newsom were asked about Gaga and then because they didn’t like her music, it was immediately big news online and they had to shoot each other down. It’s like the three new, most happening female pop girls, the same kind of age, and they had to shoot each other down! Guys are never asked to do that. It’s just ‘the more, the merrier’, you know?”

wise words it's true I don't listen to alot of some artists music but I wouldn't go out of my way to attack them as she says the more the merrier

A point in which of his narrative? That gaga is boring after she stopped being commercial and mainstream because she wanted to pursue her vision? Or was it because gaga wanted to let go of the "main pop girl" image so she can expand her artistry and genre because that is where her artistic vision is leading her?

Or was it this person's claim that gaga stopped pandering to the gays/preaching to her fans when she literally sang the gayest song in the world in the biggest music stage ever watched by millions of people?

Sis pardon but that trash designer didnt have valid arguments. And u of all people should have known that.

Shame

You all better not attack her. Regardless of their oppinion, Hungry is an amazing queer artist who we should support and uplift, whether or not they like Lady Gaga. Not everyone needs to love her.

One thing is not liking her... other is to give an opinion on an artist integrity when you don't know them or have work with them. That's just pretentious and stupid, specially when everyone who has worked with Gaga in that field loves her. so... good ****ing bye.

Gurl, she is perhaps one of the least pretentious artists ever. Maybe you should look at this:

And here you have her DJ'ing and playing a lot of stuff, even 'Work' by Rihanna

Also have you gave her discography a listen? :triggered:

Yes, I've fully delved into Björk's world, and she's not for me. I'm allowed to have an opinion. I can appreciate her artistry and I don't hate her, I enjoy a few of her songs/videos. But overall I can't buy into her whole package. I think her fans and the people who work with her build her up to be this larger than life godlike entity and that just annoys me, that's what's pretentious about her to me. If they'd just let Björk speak for herself and not worship her like an idol I would be more open to enjoying her. People like this makeup artist aren't doing my opinion of her any favors. People treat her like this untouchable alien entity who can never be analyzed or spoken ill of, she's a human being like the rest of us and I don't have to love everything she does.

So...Björk isn’t pretentious, the fans are, then? That sounds a lot more accurate lol

Yeah, I guess that is more what I meant. No disrespect to Björk herself. I just cringe when people hype things up and make them larger than life. Like okay, I get it, she's a quirky artist and does innovative things. That doesn't mean I have to worship the ground she walks on. I like a few of her projects but she isn't the ultimate authority on music to me.

Without Kate Bush, there would be no Björk, Tori Amos, Florence Welch, Madonna, and many other female pop stars who followed in her vein of theatrical, dark pop music performance art. Gaga herself has probably been inspired by Kate and just hasn't mentioned it in any interviews. Kate is someone I can truly stan for and is the epitome of someone with class and integrity who has no pretentious bone in her body.

This could be argued for any artist though, including Gaga, Bowie, Prince, Kate, etc.  And Bjork would definitely still exist without Kate Bush, she does respect and admire Kate tho. No music/art comes out of a vacuum.
