Umm, I don't know how to say this, and I haven't really been able to figure out what happened, but I've kind of lost interest in Madonna.

For years, I was obsessed with her. There were periods when I listened to Madonna more than Gaga. I hosted so many megarates, and for me it was always Madonna, Kylie, and Janet at the center of my pop obsession. I don't listen to Janet nearly as much anymore, but Kylie is the one artist who has somehow stayed with me through everything.

Have you ever had that happen with an artist? The new Madge stuff looks great, and objectively I think a lot of it is interesting, but I just don't feel the pull anymore. I used to listen to Confessions on a Dance Floor religiously. It's such a weird feeling. Makes me a little sad, honestly.,

Phases like that happened. It is very common and normal, mainly because you feel burn out with the artist or the genre. Other reason could be because the artist recent offerings are not really your thing or lackluster.

I love all my faves, but there are periods of time where I just listened to other stuffs. There are also times where I don't listen to any music at all. It can lasted days or even months.

Personally I don't think too much of it, because i know I am not moving on, I just needed a break.

I think its natural. 

I mean in highschool I used to constantly listen to eurodance and mainstream pop.

Now my most listened to artists are indie & rock acts. 

Taste changes over time.

I mean she did have a rough patch after confessions  HC, MDNA and Rebel heart were such trend chasing albums that it kind of hurt to witness.. same was kinda true for Madame X, but the more experimental part of the album made up for it. I was also really excited for C2, but seing she has so far 3 colabs confirmed I am a bit less excited cause I was hoping for a true solo return to form.

As for your question, I'd have to say I had that for 30 Seconds to mars and Coldplay.. also Nightwish and Kind of The pretty reckless and a lot of other emo bands.

Well her last few albums weren't the best so it's kinda normal. Even I am not that hyped for Confessions II anymore after hearing the singles & snippets (excluding Danceteria - sounds amazing)

Absolutely yes, and it's always a strange sensation to grapple with.

I guess it all comes down to understanding and accepting that you naturally need different artists for different parts of your life.

With Gaga I think, but that was when I hadn't found more artists to listen to.

Now I'm just kinda giving up on finding new artists bc of the difficulty to choose which recommendation to follow for.

What I discovered about myself is that if a singer has a great voice I don’t get tired of listening to their music. But with average/bad singers I lose interest pretty fast.

It comes in waves really and that’s ok, I went through a period in my mid 20s of being more into grunge and indie rock and indie electronica acts over Gaga. You don’t have to love someone forever, you can treasure the memories and albums and songs you love.

Now for example I’m really into Charli more than Gaga, but I still love Gaga even if Mayhem isn’t my priority anymore. But the second she brings out another album I’ll be straight back on my stan train. You can like what you like from an artist and not be interested in other aspects of their output it happens.

On the contrary, I am more interested than ever before because she is gonna release an album that is assumed to be a legendary album and follow-up to COADF.

I feel this is me. Ray of Light is an album I hold in high regard (it’s still the best pop album of all time to me) but the rest of Madonna’s discography just doesn’t hit like it used to.

LG is the only artist whom I'm invested in enough to listen to albums front-to-back, but I've come to respect Ray Of Light for being a turning point for Madonna & don't call it "overrated" anymore. It's also very sonically consistent.

But I personally only care for ROL, Frozen, Power Of Goodbye & Swim

It’s happening with me right now and MARINA. I actually enjoyed ancient dreams in a modern land, but her newest album is - meh. Normally I’d try to listen to it anyways, but most of her discography has fell off my listen list besides a few songs and I don’t rush to listen to all her new releases anymore 

I’m starting to feel the same way with Melanie Martinez bc of her recent album and the fact that I love her first few, but it’s been so long since they released I don’t really listen to them much
