So far seeming true:/ she deserved some recognition, I believe.  She was really great in this role.  I’d see the movie again.  I wish she wasn’t in only the second half of the movie.  Raffey Cassidy was great, but Natalie Portman was SO interesting.

So if a racially Jewish person is not following the Jewish faith they would still be protected under the law, or a non-racially Jewish person who is following the Jewish faith? Also, how does one confirm their Jewish race to the government?

I was just gonna say; a 4 year old Palestinian kid killed from Israeli sniper, shot to eye, right before that. Both horrible cases. It wasn’t in the mainstream news either, but it doesn’t make this topic less relevant. Also it’s always in the news when celebs take certain political stand...

Not validating, I hate this law, it's making so many people in Israel who are not Jewish, not 100% Israeli, not only Arabs, even Christian who are obliged to serve at the military but can't marry properly or LGBT, this law is dividing the country.. ahm smells like NAZISM to me, this law is separating me as an LGBT from being the "pure Jewish Israeli"..

I just wanted to add it because this baby deserves a little sentence inside a topic about this conflict, especially here, where this murder might be justified by people who don't understand this conflict properly and see it as an entertainment.. even if I think that the parents are irresponsible and living in a land that not theirs and has a little bit of guilt in the lose of their own child. you may say I can post a thread but you know, it'll be empty or with 3 posts lol

Yes to both. If you are a non religious Jewish person but are born in Israel and are of Jewish identity (culturally speaking) you shall be protected under the law because you are "historically" Jewish (for lack of a better term). Additionally if you are a convert into Judaism (which is not very common) and have gone through certain processes and live in Israel then yes you most likely shall be protected as well (look at Israeli politician and Jewish convert Anastassia Michaeli for example). Though this is rather rare because so much of being Jewish is about your lineage. Additionally I'm not too sure how they make the distinction to confirm their Jewish heritage however Jewish names are probably the most obvious form of indication that you are Jewish. Also family and of course if you are born in Israel it's easier to distinguish between Jewish or Arab (or any other minority). Especially since there is a lot of focus on race, religion and ethnicity there because Israel as a country depends on having a Jewish majority population so thy definitely keep very thorough track of religious / ethnic etc.. patterns in the country.

This law is also dividing my family, my husband is not Jewish, he's as they call it "goy" (racist disgusting word) so he will never be equal in Israel because of this law.. so it's pretty much personal to me..

I actually feel like Jews have been marginalized and distinguished as a different nationality, not race. At least here in Europe it's been that way. It's still horrible though, that we as people try to differentiate from other religions, races and nationalities, because we see them as lesser.
