Economy 52,839
https://www.npr.org/2018/11/29/671799971/unlike-most-countries-australia-has-progressed-for-27-years-without-a-recession This is impressive. Whether by really good monetary policy steering or government policies or just advantage of having to access to growing Asian markets, Australia has now been recession free for 27 years! This is more than double the US record! Australia however has a strong vulnerability as having the highest consumer debt in the world, the only Nation with more consumer debt than Canada and Australia also has a very overvalued realestats This could trigger the next recession
Economy 52,839
On a side note I think rapid population growth is part of this because the economy can have weak periods and for example grow at just 1% and technacly not be in recession but still be deteriorating because job creation doesn't keep up with population growth

ShockPop 7,747
Population growth paired with strict import rules. They can sustain their food sales purely with Australia grown products which is cool. Very advantageous. And obviously tourism there is huge.
KURUSHITOVSKA 20,451
I don't understand anything about it so i'd love to have an explanation, but then, why is the australian dollar really lower than the euro, for example? And if the US Dollar is the most important currency, why is it also lower than the €? ¿Qué currículum tiene ésta tarántula?

They generally prioritise australian-grown over imports, which is something the UK could study.

And if the US Dollar is the most important currency, why is it also lower than the €? A lot influences a currency it's hard to give u 1 reason why 1 currency is stronger than another But exchanges can also be deceiving. Suppose the US decided to trade the penny as its official currency rather than the dollar then suddenly the currency in numbers would be worth only 1% of what the dollar is worth now but in reality purchasing power of Americans wouldn't change but I'd say it's a weak currency. Really just an illusion The opposite would happen if the US traded a grand let's say ($1000) and made it a currency. Value would surge in terms of looks but not really, rather us just deal with extremely small nunbers So there's a lot to consider in whether a currency is strong or not or why it is or isnt. the face to face value doesn't mean anything necessarily the way it often appears to
Woolfsmck 2,763
Why the dollar is the most important global standard currency has mainly to do with the end of ww2... Europe,Britain and Russia were severely damaged by the war and the US played a big role in the rebuilding and recovery years. The value vs. Other currencies fluctuates because of supply and demand....which is influenced by politics, economies, the relative economic conditions of the country its from and trade policies. like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still.
