Traci Redford was boarding a flight at with her daughter “Abcde,” who pronounces her name “Ab-city,”  when an employee mocked her daughter’s name.

“The gate agent started mocking my child’s name, laughing, pointing at me and my daughter, and then talking to other employees, so I turned around and just said like ‘Hey, I can hear you, so if I can hear you, my daughter can too, like I’d appreciate if you’d just stop.’” Redford told KABC-TV.

The employee took a picture of Abcde’s boarding pass and posted it on social media.

Regardless of whether we find the name ridiculous or not, the fact that any child or adult should face ridicule for their name is disgusting. Just imagine what this kid deals with.

I don't care if we try to shift the blame on the mother. No decent human being should mock someone's name in the first place. Even "normal names" get mocked for being different (namely "Muslim-sounding" names, asian names etc.).

Very unprofessional to mock a client's child's name, and obviously the employee has no tact and should be terminated.

But Abcde is a hilarious Millennial mom name though. I've known a couple of redneck preschoolers with meth head moms who were unfortunately saddled with the name.

My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <3

No one is right in this situation. Employee was supposed to be polite and professional and he was extremely rude. Mother should be a bit smarter. Her kid will get mocked because of that name and it’s cruel reality. It shouldn’t happen but it will and we all know it. Like why the hell would you give your kid that name and make a “clown” of her? Kids are cruel and will find a way to bully her because of it.. Not to mention the situation in class when they’ll learn alphabet..

Not professional to make fun of a child but it’s honestly the mothers fault for naming her kid that. I’m all for unique names, but that is beyong ridiculous. Its like naming your kid 1234 and expecting people to take it seriously or pronounce it correctly.

This is what happens when you do clownery. :creepflop:
