I don't get that article. They only show a handful of European countries and Malta, who they say has some of the lowest, is on that list. Then where are all the other European countries and EU nations?

First of all, the Middle-Eastern guy got was guilty of THREE cases of rape/sexual violence. This was not a small case. 

Secondly, he wanted to a reduction to his sentence, and used his MIDDLE-EASTERN BACKGROUND as a reason to get that reduction. He said that the reason for his misconduct was because of cultural differences and HE THOUGHT that the attempt of rape is not punished by law. 

Instead of spending time complaining about cases like these making the news (and rightfully so instead of sweeping them under the rug), how about you condemn the people that make you look bad?

With that said, Finland is definitely not devoid of racism. What country is, though? And it wasn't too long ago that Finland was ranked highest in terms of happiness of immigrants.

Listen, I'm not in anyway defending his acts nor anyone elses who commits such a horrendous act. Also I believe EU and Finland should restrict their foreign policy to prevent such matters hapening. However the fact that you are pointing your fingers to my "people" (I consider Finns also my people but go off) shows the atmosphere of racial discrimination here. Both sides have their flaws, but usually media reports the latter ones much more. 

I feel like I'm making zero sense right now. My point make much more sense in Finish.

EDIT: Gosh I sound as if I'm blaming the rape victims while my argument doesn't involve them.

Hey! Sorry that you had a bad experience on your holiday here but I live in France since 25 years and I literally saw TONS of french people trying to understand/help foreigners having a broken french or not knowing a word of french so I know for a fact that you're widely generalizing tens of millions of people there.That's a tad unfair no?  

Also folks often come here and expect us to speak their language without learning a word of ours even just to say "I want that please? How much is it?" in a store etc. When I go abroad I don't expect folks to be know my language or to talk english so I learn some basics questions in the local language to be understood and it also avoid wasting their time with me doing gestures etc to ask simple stuffs lol.

That study isn't credible at all. There are 50 countries in Europe and 28 countries are members of EU. The study is only talking about 13 countries so the results are obviously going to be very misleading. Anybody who believes that Finland is more racist and intolerant than those extremely conservative and reggressive Eastern European countries, is seriously deluded. Also, such terms as "offensive gestures" and "racial harrassment" are very ambiguous and they weren't clearly defined in the study. For example, according to study "staring" is considered to be "racist". In reality, of course, staring has nothing to do with racism.

In Finland immigrants receive all the same benefits as native Finns, including social security, free healthcare, free education, support for paying rent etc. This wouldn't be possible in actual racist country. Huge protests against racism and intolerance are also common in Finland. Of course, if you look hard enough you can find racism anywhere in the world. There's probably some discrimination in Finland against some minorities but it is not a major problem and people shouldn't exaggarate these possible problems.

@Morphine Prince this⬆️ is also true, not all EU countries were included! If they were, I doubt Finland would be on top. 

I can’t agree it’s not a major issue tho. White people are not the ones who decide that, we don’t experience it every day.
