crisTEAne 21,059
i'm kinda on the face about it, but leaning more toward agreeing. however, both the article and that ban e-mail were so poorly written, jesus christ. the headteacher couldn't get either of the brand names right, wtf. if you hurt taylor swift, i'll hurt you back
Chop 837
Lol what an illogical decision. Are they going to ban also expensive shoes, shirts, etc?
Addison Rae 18,236
I can see why. I went to school in an upper middle class area in the UK and kids would make fun of other people if they were poor or looked not as groomed. But banning children from wearing jackets based on a price point is just stupid. sitting on his lap sipping diet pepsi

The Louvre 3,423
Just abolish school uniforms. Trust me it isn't fashionable to walk around with huge brand names on your clothes. It's actually more of a sign of poverty if you do. Poor British kids. I could go to school in my joggers It's said the map of the world is on you. The moon gravitates around you. The seasons escape you.

Benji 20,113
Clearly there was multiple incidents involving coats for the school to ban designer ones. We had a set uniform and my school banned expensive / labelled coats and trainers. This wasn’t because of “poverty shaming” though, my school was in a poor area and these items were always being stolen from changing rooms and some parents weren’t learning so the school banned them. I support the ban, children have no need for an expensive coat to learn.
RAMROD 117,954
The irony of this is that many of expensive coats these days are designed to look like worn coats that a homeless person would wear. Nobody would know that your coats is actually branded and costs $10,000++ that way unless you ask, meaning; wealthy kids will still able to wear expensive coats regardless, and keep the less fortunate kids at bay by making them comforted thinking the coat is super old hand me downs or bought from charity shops
