Was John Wayne intended for ASIB?

It is very likely that landing a role in ASIB as Ally inspired Gaga's 'stripped down', 'regular girl' personality, which reflected in her Joanne album. So, I found myself listening to Joanne today and when John Wayne came on, I thought of the possibilty that this bop was written with ASIB in mind, having Ally as its narrator. And here is why I think it could be possible:

1. John Wayne and cowboy references: they personally remind me of Jack

2. Musical similarities to ASIB: John Wayne could classify as pop rock, much like some tracks on the soundtrack (Diggin' My Grave, Alibi, Black Eyes)

3. The way she describes the man in the song could also remind people of Jack (strong and manly, a drinker, on a three- day bender)

4. Lyrics: the couple is 'headed for a dead end', and reaching 'the eye of the storm': these could be foreshadowing the troubles that Jack and Ally would eventually find themselves into

5. And, what really made me click is the way Gaga says 'man' in the first pre-chorus... it sounds like 'I crave a real wild MAINE' :usrs:

What do you think?

REALITY

It's possible, who knows.

I am curious as to how much ASIB inspired Gaga to make Joanne (or vice versa). I think the initial inspiration for Joanne was probably the passing of Bowie, but you can't help but wonder how much ASIB also influenced Joanne as well (since they are relatively similar).

No because we see in Five Foot Two at the beginning that she says "Warner Bros. just green lit a movie that Bradley Cooper is going to direct and wants me to star in it". Then we see her working on John Wayne with Mark Ronson. Inb4 monsters think Paparazzi was intended for ASIB because it fits with that scene after they sing Shallow and they're surrounded by paparazzi.

I kept that in mind. Idk...still I see her description of the man fit Jack more than, say, Taylor Kinney

Not a chance, like Joanne is the most consistent album

BUT one of the themes is right in there. Her going back to man, to portraying herself many times as male. John Wayne and Sinners Prayer can't be other than on Joanne. Cause it's about her relationship with her father.

So obvs no.

lol john maine, though i died. ofc you're kiddin

I don't think so. It doesn't have the sound Ally would sing, bc her solo songs on the soundtrack are all more generic ( not basic :trollga:  - except for WDYDT and HBF :lolly: ) pop oriented while John Wayne is more of a pop/rock/alternative direction

Ew, David!
