This is their most disappointing record to me :/ I really love Natural and Machine, but the rest of the album falls short.

Tbh it feels like a collection of demos. The only stand outs for me were Bullet of a Gun, Only, and Love. The rest were forgettable  :/

I only thought the the tracks in the middle were really unforgettable, but the last 3 tracks to me are perfect and well written!

I really love this album actually! However, some of the songs in the middle are really forgettable and I feel the production wasn't that good in certain songs. But, the lyrics and meanings in these songs are really great and heartwarming.

Here is my ranking:

1. Bad Liar

2. Natural

3. Cool Out

4. Boomerang

5. Birds

6. Burn Out

7. Real Life

8. West Coast

9. Machine

10. Bullet In A Gun

11. Love

12. Zero

13. Stuck

14. Only

15. Digital

I haven’t listened yet but I knew it would be disappointing just from the couple tracks so far that’s been released. They didn’t really take the time for this record and they really are b-sides of EVOLVE.

I agree. Even though I disliked more songs from Evolve, I prefer Evolve. For me, Origins production wasn't really good, especially Digital (its one of my least favorite songs from their whole discography along with Dancing In The Dark and Yesterday). And some lyrics are quite repetitive, but I loved this album tbh, just the feel to it and the last 3 tracks on the album saves it. Bad Liar and Natural are also great aswell imo.

Ranking of the albums:

1. Smoke + Mirrors ( I really love this album and critics were really harsh on it for no reason. The deluxe is more amusing to me imo. (My personal favorites Battle Cry, Monster, Shots, The Fall, Dream, Gold, Warriors, The Unknown, It Comes Back To You, Polaroid, Hopeless Opus, Theif)

2. Night Visions (The Single choices are amazing and I really love the darkness of the album! Again, critics were really harsh on the album.) (Personal favorites: Demons, Bleeding Out, America, Radioactive, It's Time, Hear Me and the beginning of Tiptoe is amazing)

3. Evolve (A lot of people hated this album, but I love it! The lyrics are great and the production is fantastic! I only disliked 2 songs from the album) (Personal faves: Whatever it Takes, Mouth of the River, I Don't Know Why, Believer, I'll Make It Up To You, Next To Me, and Thunder)

4. Origins (I feel like they should a little more on the album, but I only really dislike 1 song. Also, they needed to work on the production more. Machine is kinda messy on some points of the song and Digital is really messy. But the lyrics are very superior imo, but can get very repetitive) (Personal Faves: Bad Liar, Natural, Cool Out, Boomerang, Birds, Burn Out, Real Life, West Coast)

well it took me a while to get into Evolve, when I saw them live is when I really started liking it. Guess I'll give it another try but idk I feel like it's an album quite uneventful, sounds like the chainsmokers did it

Also I think Digital could have been A LOT better but the production is way too messy, imo they tried to do another Radioactive but it turned out kinda bad

Head Empty

Definitely my least favorite album of theirs. I love Machine and Natural and I can appreciate elements of some other songs, but most of it feels forced. As if they had a great idea for parts of the songs, and then forcefully stretched those ideas out into a 3-4 minute tracks.

'Digital' is a great example. The verse (it only has one) is AMAZING, and the chorus is decent as well. But those pre/post-choruses feel soulless and overly repetitive.

And then tracks like Boomerang are just blatantly repetitive for the sake of it, and heartfelt songs like West Coast get ruined by "catchy" hooks.

I don't see myself listening to this album a lot at all, and it'll probably be the first of their tours that I wont be visiting.

Luckily I wasn't overly hyped about it, since it got annouced so suddenly and at such short notice.

Pretty soulless album. Evolve was brilliant but this just doesn't seem to have much of an identity. Standouts are West Coast and Bad Liar.

There's definitely bops but yeah feels like they could be anyone. Only sounds like Chainsmokers but I dont mind that too much because I love them as well
