Debithius 5,837
In this case, I’m talking about late 2009-2013. I miss how simple pop music was back then, trap and mumble rap wasn’t a thing. Old school Katy, Gaga, Bey, Rihanna were ruling. The fun dance/electropop explosion seemed to have vanished right after 2013 from mainstream music. Borislshere 53,023
The born this way era (NOT THE ALBUM to be clear) But that was hands down my favorite era. The performances, The Tour, The promo tour, and GAGA X Barneys omg.

GhettoFabulous 18,501
Music was a perfect balance of everything . Artists music videos world premieres were EVENTS. I’d actually stay up to watch award shows. It was gay! Artists actually had energy and stage presence (most of them)
yukonderosa 36
music was actually good and exciting back then. people made music because they genuinely enjoyed the process and enjoyed making people excited and interested in their vision and the art of it. i remember being like 11 years old watching the MuchMusic Countdown back in 2011 when gaga was slaying with BTW and every single song on the top 100 countdown was a bop, now we have instagram "influencers" or "youtubers" who make half ass attempts at a music career through bullying others in lyrics or repeating the same "love yourself" message through crappy means, not only that but music videos rarely are artistic anymore, nor are lyrics. we have 65884 videos of white boys on the hoods of cars dressed like they fell out of a WalMart clothing rack and doing hand signs and talking about women's bodies or money. it simply is not good music, and there are very very few artists who are actually putting their all into their music, 90% of the time i feel like they're just trying to chart their singles instead of actually making art
TheMiddleGround 3,251
I love how every major artist had to step up their game when Gaga arrived and reigned. Her impact as the Final Superstar of that magnitude is magical. That being said. I listen tot the 00’s playlist on Apple Music a lot!

IAmNotHere1997 25,824
Strong choruses, while nowadays we don't even have vocals on them Just simple party songs, that weren't too serious
Glamourpuss 29,062
Ear worm songs with catchy melodies, killer hooks, strong choruses and bridges (Gaga's we're always the best). Katy Perry's Hot N Cold for example. Not the best song but it didn't take itself too seriously. It was a great bop at the time. Now it seems the pop girls are too serious. We need the fun back. Even that song that went "party rock is in the house tonight". It's crap now but at the time it was just this fun dance song.
