It’s really hard not to get desensitized to things like this, but it’s really really really disheartening to have tragedies like this happen every. Single. Moment. All across the country.

Also, what’s with this rise in randomized mass shootings (non-gang) in Southern California? There was a bunch in San Bernardino/IE the last few years, and now Ventura?

I go to concerts and shows the next street over at the Canyon Club and the TO Civic Arts Plaza .

There is a problem with the ability to obtain guns but the more pressing issue and cause of this is that we need government funded mental institutions again! Bill Clinton closed them all down in the 90s. If everyone in school got mental checks each year this issue would be greatly decreased. Some people are just born evil and need to be kept away from the public its a sad thing but true.

Wrong President.

Ronald Reagan, elected President in 1980, discarded a law proposed by Carter, his predecessor, that would have continued funding federal community mental health centers. This basically eliminated services for people struggling with mental illness.

Reagan made similar decisions while he was the governor of California, releasing more than half of the state’s mental hospital patients and passing a law that abolished involuntary hospitalization of people struggling with mental illness.

This started a national trend of de-institutionalization.
