At least 12 people have been killed, including a police officer, at a country music bar in Thousand Oaks, California.

The shooting began at 23:20 local time on Wednesday about 40 miles (65km) north-west of Los Angeles, police say.

At least 200 people were reportedly inside the Borderline Bar and Grill, which was hosting a university student night, at the time of the attack.

Officials say the suspect, who has not been identified, was found dead inside.

They have not yet confirmed any motive for the shooting.

Americans make up less than 5 percent of the world’s population yet own roughly 41.8 percent of all the world’s privately held firearms. Tell me how is that working for us here?

And I’m not here trying to make this into a fight like most people do when having a debate. I’m trying to understand the logic behind we, needing more guns when we already have too many.

Sadly, as you said it has become a regular occurrence. I have become accustomed to seeing news of a shooting almost weekly.

I can't even imagine growing numb to something so horrible. I guess if you see it enough it's bound to happen tho.:(

I just don’t get why US doesn’t have gun control already. It just seems so surreal, I’m from the UK and I’ve never held a gun. I’ve never felt the need for one, I don’t even like them. This sick obsession with guns is bred into America, change needs to happen. :interestinga:

How can you people (Americans in general, I'm sure in GGD there will be few people like this) still support the right to keep guns? Don't you realize the only one thing you're doing is killing yourselves? And letting your children become killers/get killed?

I have no issue with the right to own guns. As long as you are responsible. It’s protected by the constitution. However, Americans have an OBSESSION with guns. Mostly conservative America. It’s almost to the point where it feels like they’re rubbing it on your face.

That's the tea. They're obsessed with guns. They have to live without them for a long time to stop this madness
