Pacify Him 9,073
They’re really going out of their way that desperately huh? What’s Gaga to do? Blackface? I’m getting on your nerves
RahrahWitch 6,985
He hasn't a leg to stand on. He's searching for things that aren't there. My only guess is he wanted attention from writing this because any logical being wouldn't have otherwise.

It's also a homophobic movie. See how stupid that stuff is? I haven’t seen the movie, nor do I care enough to; comic book movies are starting to bore me. But enlighten me where that part is? I respect your opinion but please don't complain about Grey's please because they have always had a diverse cast. But I do agree that more races such as Asian and Indian need to be given more roles. (I miss Sandra Oh so much). Sorry if I spoiled something, as a middle eastern, I feel that diversity shouldn't end with black and white, I want more middle eastern people on tv and not with a sad story of an immigrant, but regular life, maybe with a challenging story like a gay orthodox jew or Muslim? maybe a relationship between an Israeli and Palestinian? things like that... If I'm not wrong you are from the UK and this season of Doctor Who (if you watched) doing it the best way imo.. unlike last season which were horribly political and SJW to the point that I couldn't enjoy watching... PunkTheFunk 124,403
I hated ASIB because they failed to address the horrors of 20th century British colonialism. What a shame.
freebit 6,240
I feel like they wanted this film to be something it just wasn't aiming to be. A movie can't be everything to everyone, it's just not possible. It's like expecting The Notebook to go into the intricacies of WWII. It's a romantic drama. Why would you expect the movie to tackle race relations when they don't even tackle rockism vs. poptimism in a complete and satisfactory manner? I do think there could be legitimate criticisms of its treatment of Ally as a female character in a toxic relationship, and the way Jackson and the movie treat her, and I could understand how one could be uncomfortable with the white southern country folk music thing, but its not as if the main characters or the artists that help compose the soundtrack are white nationalists - that is a huge, nonsensical leap, and it does the authors argument a disservice because that conclusion is so wild. I mean, the movie has other things going on in it that could use a closer look with a critical eye, but to get mad that it doesn't talk about the Vegas shootings for example, is just nitpicking for nitpickings sake. Quartz 12,524
Funny thing is, I didn't see their color when watching the film. Maybe the writer should stop looking at color too? This is just stupid and narrow. Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

misunderstood 8,736
Another post of regurgitated nonsense that is considered "woke" when 99% of the time the stuff being said is "asleep" "I'd rather be poor and happy, than rich and alone"
Karl 3,389
**** the internet, why should we give idiots like this a platform? We should have people pass an IQ test before allowing an article to be published or something I feel like articles like this actually harm the BLM movement, because the far right see this kind of thing and assume everyone on the left is as extreme and crazy as this person. bloody g 31,746
I think it was meant for everybody. A female rising to stardom while the male loses fame was quite revolutionary in its times but now, well, it isn't as impressive. In no ways it is for trump's america. You have people around the globe LOVING and being OBSESSED with this movie, so no it's not for alt-righters. But if you're looking for representation and race struggles of a minority, it isn't your movie. But also not your story. 『𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐝』

doppelganger 3,933
That’s the funny thing about the diversity discourse in films. African Americans say they want diversity in Hollywood but then didn’t support films like Crazy Rich Asians. Let’s call a spade a spade ; It’s not diversity that you really want but seeing your own community represented in films. Perhaps there’s nothing wrong with not enjoying a film because you cannot relate to the characters. Personally i enjoy seeing other cultures in films I admit i enjoy seeing Crazy Rich because it depicted Southeast Asia in a refreshing way (despite me not being Chinese) and i enjoy Ali’s Wedding because it depicted a muslim family (despite me not being a middle eastern immigrant). I’m rambling here but my point is there’s always something that you can draw upon in good films, eg: commonality in our differences
