You missed my point entirely. The poster may not have said “all” white people, but the fact that it was so important to point out the color of their skin implies that it was used that way.

So, my point is that when people are discussing a sensitive issue as this, all people should be mindful of how things are said. Besides, at the root of it all, both myself & the person I quoted have the same belief on the issue (whether transgender persons should have the same given rights as cisgendered person).

I just don’t feel that it’s fair to point out that they are “white rich old men.” The way the sentence is structured implies that white, rich, old and male persons **** everything up. Not all white, rich old and male persons have the same beliefs as the people who are benig references here.

Again, we all have the same thought on the issue. I’m just being nitpicky on how the idea was presented. 🙂

I understand. But it’s just the truth. These white rich old men we are taking about are pointed out like that because first of all they are RACIST. People who locked up 4 year olds in cages and separated them from their families. And when a few “lucky ones” got reunited AFTER months, they wouldn’t recognise their own mother.

This is the truth. They are racist and xenophobic, and its them who we are pointing out.

I understand you though and I’m glad to know we share the same thought on this issue.

White straight rich men deciding about women's bodies, white straight rich men deciding about transgender's rights.... ugh.

Their race, sexuality and gender isn't relevant. Stop bringing it up as some kind of point. If you wouldn't bring his race and sexuality up if he was black and gay, you shouldn't bring it up because he's white and straight.

This man is an embarrassment to humanity. The fact he was given the power he has is Horrifying. I'm not American and not sure how this stuff works but How much more until something is done? From an outside perspective it seems he can do pretty much anything and still be in power.

The system of checks and balances meant to limit the power of people like Trump isn't working because right now, conservatives/Republicans control all the branches of government, and the issue with American conservatives is that even if they disagree with a conservative politician, they will still support them because "at least it's better than having a liberal in office!" Right now, the American political system is a joke, and even people who have been observing politics for decades are saying that this is utterly unprecedented, but conservatives/Republicans are just happy that they're "winning," so nothing is being done.

Thank you for explaining. I knew America was very divisive but Didn't imagine it go to the extreme of "If my side is winning, I don't care what happens" but Evidently it is and It's insanity.

It is relevant. Men deciding about women’s rights when women should have input on that, men deciding on trans rights when trans should have their input.

As for their sexual orientation, sometimes straight people simply can’t imagine and put themselves in the position of a minority. Or they think they’re opened when in fact they think they are and they unfortunately don’t see the bigger picture.

As for their race, there’s very few black or mixed people in positions of higher power. It is known that mostly straight white rich men voted for Trump aka they endorse his ideas.

If you are a Rich White Straight Men reading this message and it doesn’t apply to you, move on. If it does, think about it.

——-

If he was black and gay and would support this idea i would surely point it out as it being a contradiction that he should understand more minorities’ problems bc he is a part of it

All the ridiculous self-defensive replies here to "rich straight white cis men" is embarrassing, lmao on a Gaga fansite, no less. It's clear as ****ing daylight that when someone says "men are privileged", they don't mean all men. (But ofc some people just have to miss the point, hence the running joke of #notallmen) And that stands for when you sprinkle all the little adjectives denoting the specific privileges these men have. Their whiteness, gender, sexual orientation all play a role in their mindset and thus their policies. The topic here is the terrible thing they're doing and y'all are arguing over labels?? **** outta here with your digression. ****ing hell.

I totally get your point. But, while I fully disagree with this disgusting decision, they ARE the ones in power right now, so therefore they (unfortunately) have every right to make this decision, regardless of race, sexuality, gender and wealth - that in no way makes it right though.

The fact that they're white and straight men shouldn't lessen their right to make decisions like this. I don't believe that their race, sexuality and gender has any influence on the way they think about these kind of things. As someone else mentioned not all white straight rich men are like this, that is true.

It all comes down to their education and the current administration aren't exactly the most educated people. Obviously less educated people will make less educated decisions - which is exactly what happened here - because they simply don't know any better.

The issue here is that women and minorities do not have equal representation in the GOP Congress and Cabinet that is putting forth these policies. From the President, VP, Cabinet, Judicial system, GOP House and Senate...the large majority are White Men.

Look at the Republicans in Congress. 90 per cent are male and 95 per cent are white. 38 percent of the U.S. population is nonwhite Hispanic and other racial minorities. The five per cent is not representative of the thirty eight per cent of racial minorities. The ten per cent is not representative of the fifty per cent of females in the US.

The percentages are going to be as dismal for LGBT representation in the GOP Congress, Cabinet, etc.

Where are those gays that said Trump is a friend of LGBT, where is Caitlyn Jenner (a trans woman btw) that said Trump will be a good president, where is Kim k that has a following of so many young people that will listen to every stupid thing she says... Where is Kanye West... Where are many others that thought it will be a good idea to vote for trump... Where are they now.... I will tell you where... Hiding in some hope because they know they ****ed up... And they play bling because they don't want to be a bad guy...

AMERICA GO VOTE.... BECAUSE IF TRUMP CONTINUES LIKE THIS, YOU WILL BE SCARED TO GO OUTSIDE OF YOUR HOUSE

Actually no, I know plenty of gays and lesbians who love trump and they are not upset by this at all. There are likely many of them very close to you but hide their opinions from you cause of the way you talk like in your comments here.

Its simply defining sex as permanent. Its not even a bill...
