NathanC 938
Uhhhh.... did free speech just die? Actually, I thought Dan Matthews made an excellent connection between being gay and animal rights. Two oppressed groups. You also miss the point about fur. It's not an 'opinion', it's about suffering and cruelty. Do you turn your back on that and walk away? Yes, I guess you do. And don't tell anyone who to be a fan of. I can be disappointed with Gaga if I want to, and still not care for Pink's music. If I want to turn to a musician and designer who support PETA, I'll take Sir Paul and Stella McCartney. Do you turn your backs on millions of Africans dying due to lack of food and clean water? I guess you do... See how that works? How about the millions also infected by HIV by lies being spread about condom use over there... there are more important human concerns for me than some fur... I must applaud you for being able to champion EVERY cause... :golfclap:
Jake 0
I appreciate your courteous tone, which is more than I can say for some people here, tossing around the word "asshole". There is much and more I could say to such people, but why waste my time? There are so many people helping people - like Bill & Melinda Gates and their billion $$$ foundation, so I to donate to animal charities as I always have. I was only going to donate to BTW because I admired Gaga, but even before this fur controversy, I held back. It's been getting harder and harder to defend her as she gets weirder and weirder, and not in a good way. Everything is so dark...even the new perfume ad. I do mentor in my community and try to counsel kids in crisis, so I give my time to people. I feel a one on one approach is more worth while. I taught someone in junior high how to read last summer, and that was very gratifying. Totally understand :) I've been thinking that this new era will be terrible for many fans. I like some of the stuff she's doing, but other parts are admittingly hard to swallow. And I completely agree with the nature of this fanbase. Not everyone has to agree on everything she does. People become too narrow minded by their own opinions that they can't be sensitive to other's feelings. After that they resort to name calling and petty insults. I hope you feel better. Whether that means you can't support Gaga anymore, or have to learn to deal with what she's doing is nobody's business but your own and people should respect what you have to say.

And just because I can't doesn't mean I don't think the charities aren't worthwhile. You're losing the plot Nathan, we're talking about PETA and animals and Gaga. As far as Africa goes, I leave it to Bill & Melinda Gates. Animals are just as important as people; they have a place on they planet and in the eco-system. I can't fix everything, so I chose one bit to focus on. You might want to write a letter to your Senator and Congress-person and make sure the US provides birth control and condoms to Africa. That might be the beginning of solving the problems over there. Make sure to vote Democrat too in November - if you're old enough to vote. Republicans deny birth control to Africa. Over-population is the root of that problem. Now see, you got me to go OT. ;)

Horses, cows, giraffes, etc, etc are all herbivores.
easyride 1
I will never understand people that say that. Why should helping humans be more important? Just because they are humans? Well animals have feelings too. For example my pets are more important to me than any other human in the world and if I had to choose between saving my pets from a burning building or a bunch of humans I WOULD CHOOSE MY PETS! I wouldn't choose the humans just because they are humans. I'm sick of people treating animals like ****. And using innocent animals for testing. That's not right when we have prisons full of murderers, rapists, and pedos. Im glad somebody else feels the same way i do. Id rather save my 3 pets than a person. I donate money to animal rescue groups (PETA included). Its not like i dont care about poor people or those who have less, but they have the goverment and other people to help them, the animals dont have anybody. RAMROD 107,571
And your point is?????? Cows are herded for food, while fur bearing animals are raised for the sole purpose of being made into coats, hats, etc. One is food, the other vanity. Hysterical. Because, the point is both are being killed for one purpose or another. That's all. See how this nonsense answer makes you sounds... um, double standard? If you are fighting for animal rights then do it wholly, no excuses. :hor: (ļ¾āć®ā)ļ¾ā§*:ļ½„ļ¾ š¦ ššŖ š°š±šÆš¬š«š¤ š”š¢š°šš¦š±š¢ šŖš¶ š°š ššÆš° (*Ā“čøļ½*) ā”ā”ā”

I LOVE my animals but if I could save them or people I hadn't met before, I'd save the people. Losing those people would also really hurt the people they loved which would be countless. An emotion like love is what defines humankind for me. I'm glad we live in a world where we can disagree though and I wholeheartedly respect your opionin while agreeing that animals should be treated in a loving, sensitive way. I'm going to respect your opinion but I find find it hard to believe. You pretty much summed up exactly what I feel :) I love my animals but I LOVE my friends and family. Understanding that those people would be someone else's friends and family would be enough for me. My animals are extreamly important to me but not like my brothers or my lifelong friends. Knowing that those people would be someone's mother, or husband, or child would make my decision easy. Besides, I naturally sympathize with them because I am a human and there is nothing else like mankind. Whether you believe that is because of divine endowment or natural selection, there is no other species anything close to us. Human life, your life, someone who's very aurgument proves to me that they love and feel, is what makes humans my priority. I truly admire your passion though, fight for what you believe in my friend. If we stop doing that then we lose something else that makes human life precious. Dreamscape1896 0
PETA needs to go down in flames, glad Gaga is starting it. With all the terrible things out there, if you really wanna latch onto Animal Rights, it is your choice, but don't force it down people's throats. PETA are the types of people who would take a wool blanket from a freezing homeless person. They are sick!

For me though my pets are like my children and I love them. I'm sure anyone who has children wouldn't save some random strangers over them so that's how I feel about my pets. I guess the difference between you and me is that you feel human life is more important while I feel life is equally important.

PETA are the types of people who would take a wool blanket from a freezing homeless person. They are sick! The thing is that in most cases a homeless person can do something about his/her situation. They have shelters, food, etc. Usually though they are lazy or addicted to d--gs/alcohol and never get up on their feet and try to get themselves out of that mess. Animals are completely helpless to humans. They can't do anything in a bad situation so it's up to people like me and others to help them and be their voice.
