Furgate - Gaga's response to fur allegations

What a bull**** answer. Now she's got her make-up artist Tara over on Twitter posting the most outrageous right wing blog articles against PETA, and whining that PETA "attacked" Gaga, when all they did was write a heartfelt respectful letter. I could find as many ugly articles attacking her, her support of gay rights, and the BTW Foundation. You can prove any point with a google search - but are the articles accurate?

Hermes doesn't do fake; she sold out for a freebie fur coat. Trying to slime PETA puts her in league with ant-gay rights and anti anti-cruelty right wingers. The last place I expected to see her. She's got bull**** all over her shoes and it won't wipe off.

PETA is full of **** though. As is everyone involved in this matter, including Gaga.

Scheisse ._.

But it's fine that a chicken is raised in a 40*40cm cage in the dark for the purposes of farming eggs?

Personally i think it's completely naive to consider the fur industry the worst or most morally wrong form of farming.

But that's my opinion and i understand that some people think differently, my problem is when people act like wearing fur is illegal or somehow depraved. It's not.

hmm, did i ever say that

Really, because according to your posts, her past TF/TFM work is better, and she should quit the preaching that BTW was. Funny, when you want to hate, you bend truth and opinions to fit your purpose.

Get your facts straight. I did say TF and TFM were better than BTW, and they are - IMO So frikking' what? When did I ever say she was "preaching" about BTW. Making it up as you go along ain't gonna cut it.

Besides, this thread is about fur. We were invited here by Gaga Daily on Twitter to discuss it, and that's what I'm here to do. If you want argue about TF/TFM/BTW go back to the other thread.

P.S. There's no hate in my heart. Daily Mail readers are right. They say Little Monster's are some of the biggest bullies on the planet. I hate to see you make them right after all the times I defended Gaga and LMs on that site with no help from anyone here.

And your point is??????

Cows are herded for food, while fur bearing animals are raised for the sole purpose of being made into coats, hats, etc. One is food, the other vanity.

Case in point. I bought a ratty used beaver coat for $30 back in the 70s. My cats ate meat, and loved to curl up on any warm, soft surfaces, but they were freaked out by that coat. They wouldn't jump on the bed if it was there, and they never went near it. The recognized what it was. I very soon threw it away.

This isn't about her right of choice for vanity's sake. This is about animals rights. They have no say about being skinned alive or being a--lly electrocuted to keep the pelts pristine to make a coat. No one has the right to torture animals to death to make clothing in this day and age. We are diminished as a species when we allow this cruelty to continue.

Absolutely shocking and disappointing coming from someone who I thought would really enlighten and lift up the youth of today.

Do you live in some sort of structure?

Is that all you can say? Do you lack the ability to give a sensible response, or are you too busy blindly following your fearless leader into the sea?

I am not against fur as long as the animal is killed humanely. And PETA does not have a good ethical reputation and they tend to exaggerate and lie. I don't believe that all fur is made out of tortured animals. Just like I don't believe all farms kill their animals humanely.

I also don't like the fact that Gaga said she didn't like fur, but wen't back on her statement. Either way, she never promised not to wear fur. I am still going to stan for her.

Anyways, I am done talking to you because I could tell what your intentions are in this forum. Low post counts, and already starting to talk negative about her. Praising her old work and bashing her new work. I know what type of user you are.

I'm glad to know you think you know all about me based on my post count and my right to freely express my opinion on her work.

I rather suspect you are done talking with me because you cannot adequately defend a position to my arguments.

And here's another clue. Animals whether for food or clothing, are not killed humanely. It's not like taking the family pet to the vet to be put to sleep.

Fur bearing animals are either skinned alive or a--lly electrocuted. Baby seals are bashed in the head with a spike on a pole (so as not to blemish the white fur) with their mother's standing by howling in anguish. Go look at YouTube vids of this if you have the stomach for it, and come back and tell me how humanely the human race treats animals.

its not just the fur but her responses are annoying me, sorry

You've put your finger on it exactly. Glad to see that at least you get it. Too bad others won't take the blinders off.

I am vegetarian and I do respect Gaga's wishes...well I will deal with them. After she released Furgate, I wrote a lettter to her on Little Monsters.com I'm not lying when I say I cried.....alot. Not because she wears fur(well abit) but because she tackled the situation well. PETA are idiots who don't think! Yeah....attacking someone is REALLY gonna get them to stop wearing fur. Good one PETA. I told Gaga in the letter than I am thankful for everything she has done for my confidence but my views are too strong to continue following her career. I just don't want my money to go towards her fur coat if she ever buys one (I don't believe the one she wore last was real). I will still listen to her music but I don't know if I will buy it, I will probably give money to the BTW foundation or another charity so im giving moneyy to her but im also not. I feel bad, I mean she deserves the money but I don't want that on my mind. I just don't think an animal should be worn for vanity. I don't mind an animal being killed for it's meat so leather is fine too. I just dont want to eat animals because I love them too much. Thats my decision and I don't want to push that on anyone else. But fur is a different story which you can research but it is too much to type. I am happy Gaga respects people who do things for animal rights and I said in the letter that I respect her for all of the anti-bullying campaigns she does! I don't want to blank Gaga outta my life because she means to much. I want to stay on GagaDaily forums and be excited for new music! I just hope she wears fur as little as possible and respects that people will get upset and respects that animals have feelings. I am happy she tries to stay away from skinned fur. I am not uneducated either. I put alot of time into researching animal rights so please don't generalize. I just wish, since I want to get into animal rights, Gaga would go anti-fur but you can't get everything in life but it is a challenge :hehe: . Emotional speech over :emo: Thanks everyone

You sound like a dear sweet person, and I feel for you very much. I am older than most here, but even at my age, Gaga taught me things about how to accept and love myself, and for that I thank her. I was her biggest defender when it came to her wearing what she wants and doing what she wants, as long as she wasn't hurting anyone.

The issue here isn't about Gaga vs. PETA. PETA are one of the most visible and confrontational animal rights groups, and I don't always approve of their tactics. But in this case, they are a group that only sent her a respectful letter asking her to reconsider her behavior.

When we get diverted into the Gaga vs PETA argument, the larger issue of animal cruelty and wearing fur gets lost. And that's exactly why Tara is on Twitter dissing PETA - it's a diversionary tactic that thinking people aren't going to get side-tracked by.

I have for many years supported animal rights groups (International Fund for Animal Welfare) and others that are not as confrontational as PETA. I donate to the North Shore Animal League, and Angell Memorial in Boston - to help pay for sick and/ or wounded animals who's owners could not otherwise afford medical care for their pets. I am leaving the bulk of my estate to the cause of animal rights in my will, and I was going to make a contribution to the BTW Foundation out of respect for Gaga, but not anymore.

This has been like a body blow for me. Not only the wearing of the fur, but the first snotty answer about it being 'Hermes, thank you'. She's toned it down since then because the blow back has been huge. Go check out the UK newspapers like the Daily Mail as an example.

She and Tara are not going to divert this disaster by trying to turn LM's disappointment in her into poor little Gaga vs big mean PETA. Again, PETA has done nothing to Gaga except write her a letter - because she is a role model. In a way she's lucky PETA got involved because she's trying to take the heat off herself and put it on them. It isn't going to work.

P.S. Hermes is the designer and they don't do fake. If I tear an animal to bits, stick it on a canvas, and call it art, is it art?? Or is it my illusion?

Finally some posts that are cohesive, genuine and unpretentious. :worship:

Laddie GaGa

I'm appalled she's taken to wearing real fur. I'm not even fond of fake fur, but to me promoting the fur trade is unacceptable. I actually can't quite believe she's done a u-turn on this issue. I hope she wakes up and comes to her senses. Sad.

SEANGT

Let's hope no one ever so blasé about cruelty that others do or have done to you.

I'm just about sick of animal rights being hailed as some sort of ultra-sensitive, compassionate issue. That doesn't make me cruel, it makes me part of the human race. My morals beyond that have nothing to do with animal rights.

How is it not a compassionate issue? It's people being compassionate about the suffering of animals. Fine, you have a right to your opinion, but I just can't understand how someone wouldn't care about another creature suffering so horribly. Animals have feelings, emotions, I just think of them being skinned for their beautiful fur, and it's like, this is what their life amounted to? Nobody cared enough to consider its pain?
