Furgate - Gaga's response to fur allegations

Not sure if I'm more annoyed at Gaga having this stance on fur, or at all the complete misconceptions and false beliefs about vegetarians/vegans/peta/animal rights activists. :fail:

I'm glad she wrote this letter, but she should have just actually said she sometimes buys real fur. The fact that she won't admit it is ridiculous IMO. I will, however, respect her viewpoint, and visions as an artist.. even though I'm SO not into dead animals as clothing.

By the way, she's getting called out on the 'high-pile' Hermes coat she was seen wearing.. that one is faux, so that is the one she is responding to. But the hot pink Armani one from a few days before actually is made from rabbit.

So she's pretty much saying that the fur was real... Her argument doesn't make sense to me, fur is alright now that she's rich?

The Hermes one wasn't real fur, but in Lady Gaga fashion she's not going to admit it wasn't, in the same way wouldn't say whether or not she had a penis. But I think another reason she won't say definitively that she doesn't wear fur in this case is because the pink Armani one was made from rabbit.

I think what she was saying the letter is that when it comes to art she's not always going to take a moral stance. She sees a designer fur coat and sees a work of art.. other people see a vain display of the product of animal slaughter.

Funny how no one has their panties in a twist over the Armani one.. I guess because it looked unrealistic (hot pink) people assumed it wasn't or it feels different psychologically to be wearing a realistic fur coat, faux or not.

Rabbit meat is delicious... those fur would have been thrown away anyways... if y'all gung ho on fighting for rights, there are only 6 states so far that has gay marriage... that's more important than fashion and food... spend your energy elsewhere... :nails:

She doesn't have to share the same values as you

Exactly what PETA needs to hear. Sure, they have good values, and I agree with their stance on fur. However, not everyone feels the same way. Immaturely shoving their opinions down our throats and attacking those who don't share their thoughts is not fair.

Who do they think they are, the Catholic church?

This upsets me due to the fact when she was on Ellen she said that she hates fur and doesn't wear fur, then becomes the face of PETA's 'Fur-Free and Fabulous' campaign and then has the audacity to say that if she sees a fur coat that she considers "art" she will bend her morals to buy it and wear it. I know Gaga has been one to go back on her word but I feel she's gone a bit too far.

Whether this is a publicity stunt for the ARTPOP era.. I don't like it at all.

I think she means that she tries to respect animals by wearing fake/faux fur but if she really likes a clothe with fur she will buy it, wether it's real or not, but that doesn't mean she supports and defends killing animals for its skin/fur

The fact is, that if you buy real fur, you are supporting the fur industry. There is no other way to word it. Why is Gaga hiding behind this "moral rigidity" excuse?

Tbh the only thing that's upsetting me about this is the negative backlash she's getting from press and the general public. Personally I adore animals and I'm not one to defend animal cruelty (neither is Gaga obviously), but I'm honestly not that upset about her wearing "real" fur on one or two occasions. The same way I eventually got over the meat dress (which I personally didn't like). If it's something she decides to to frequently, then I will be very disappointed.
