For those unaware, $100M domestic box office is an important milestone for negotiating TV and Streaming rates. Studios will go to great lengths to push their movies over this amount if they’re on the cusp. That way they make more money after the theatrical run is over.

Also, please keep in mind the studios only keep about 50% of the domestic box office. So Warner Bros. have only earned about $50M from the film domestically. The budget is purported to be $36M. We don’t know the marketing costs so it’s difficult to say if the film has truly broken even yet. But with good legs at the box office and revenue down the line from streaming, DVD/Blu-Ray, and TV broadcast, this film will definitely be a financial success for the studio.

Typically the marketing can be the same price as production budget, and this has been promoted like crazy so could be $72 million in total

As it has grossed $140m worldwide so far, it is making profit of $70m so far?

Yeah no, ASIB had massive promo. I couldn't watch any show without seeing a commerical for it or scrolling through Instagram every other post was Sponsored. Even my friends said it was crazy promo and they don't follow Gaga.

I think they are saying Halloween and super hero movies have massive fan bases already and are a brand, the ASIB movie's are something most of this generation wouldn't have heard of

I'd guess $35m, they make 50% back because of the theatre cut

I think after final box office takings are calculated, dvd sales and rentals the studio will make a profit of $100m

"Let’s face it, not all adult-oriented awards contenders are slam dunks at the box office, particularly when they are wide releases. Just ask Universal and DreamWorks, who hoped their astronaut drama First Man would launch to $20M in three days; it’s at $19.1M through five days"

nope, Halloween is about to do $60M weekend debut...ASIB stands no chance, its peak will stay at #2 unfortunately

i would be fine with it as long as its stays there for more weeks. what's important is the total gross.

$156m worldwide gross so far.  I think we would all be thrilled if it ends with $200m worldwide gross, but the more the merrier.

It will do more than $200m for sure, it’s only just been released in countries like Australia and New Zealand. It’s gonna get a boost during awards season too. :vegas:
