But having entire verses or songs to diss Nicki could blow up in her face. Cardi is still winning and can't afford to lose after the embarrassing confrontation at Fashion Week. She's done the same to other female rappers, so why should she get a free pass? Because she's one of the biggest female rappers of all time? No, no one is beyond criticism. The rap game is about feuds to an extent and if you've never been the kinda person, that's one thing, but Cardi has made it clear right from the beginning that she speaks her mind so it seems like her making a diss track would just be being real for her. You don't see the likes of Iggy or Missy doing diss tracks because they've never played that tough role but other rappers push the drama and diss tracks just work for them. That's their choice, I'm not demonising those who choose to do diss tracks. It makes the genre more exciting. The way I see it is, if diss tracks are normal in the game, there's nothing wrong with partaking in it. If someone's telling lies about you or causing trouble, damn right they should be called out on it. And I'm certainly not down on the whole "this isn't a good way for a woman/wife/mother to act" idea. If men can do diss tracks without comment, so can women. Personally, contrary to finding this kinda thing to be "becoming" of women, I couldn't find anything more becoming than a woman who's not afraid to stand up for herself!
