My ASIB Experiences -- Unusual

Here it goes, my experiences watching ASIB so far....

On Oct. 4 I was at the OTR II Tour In Seattle with my sister to see Queen Bey, and right when I got back to the hotel I immediately listened to the soundtrack (it got released at midnight).:laughga:

And the next day I went to see ASIB in the morning with my sister and my mom (she was the driver for the trip)... And just for some background: I would say my sister is definitely not a Gaga stan, I don't even think she knows what stan culture is tbh. She is more of a Beyonce fan but she certainly doesn't deny Gaga's talent, though, and I've seen her gush over Gaga's performance in AHS many, many times. My mom, on the other hand, is definitely a big Gaga fan... She went to the JWT with me, and ever since then, she has declared her the best pop performer of this generation (YAAASS). She even has some of Joanne on her Spotify playlist including John Wayne -- she's a (legal) stoner. lol.:vegas:

So we go to this super nice theatre in Seattle with reclining seats and amazing sound… Yes, I thought the movie was amazing, of course! :giveup:Their reactions were the ones I was watching for and was curious about… So about halfway through the movie, about when they get married, my Mom starts crying… And I’m like, good lord bish, you just wait... this is the happy part. I knew she wouldn’t be ready. And to be completely honest she NEVER stopped crying form that part in the movie until 15 min after the end credits started. I’m not exaggerating. Her reaction to Jack’s suicide was, well, notable to say the least. Literally everyone in the theatre is silent and then there’s my mom sitting there ugly crying. Scratch that, actually, she was bawling, wailing even. Right when Bradley was about to do it. She audibly said, not even in a whisper voice, “Oh my god, he’s going to do it, I can’t take this, oh my god.” :cryga:And then she just cried and cried and cried and cried.

My sister didn’t start crying until the actual suicide, but from then on, she was a puddle, too.

I’ve honestly never cried from watching a movie (CMBYN almost), but I could definitely feel my eyes welling up -- no tears actually fell.

And then I saw it again with my Christian grandmother (I was nervous about the f-bombs and the sex scenes -- didn’t want it to be awkward). Before watching it with her, I asked “You don’t cry at movies, do you?” To which she says “Oh No, honey, never.” And then her sweet heart asks me “Do you want me to bring some tissues for you?”

Anyways she loved it, and she was, also, surprisingly to me, a puddle by the end of it. Which I thought was pretty funny considering she is such a tough woman in general. She liked the music, and get this, she asked me (knowing I’m a Gaga stan) to recommend to her some of Gaga’s best music so she could give it a listen! OMG, hunnies, I was like h*ll to the yeah, I will do god’s work!:staymad:

The craziest part about my ASIB experiences is this: So my dad comes home one day from work, about 6 weeks before the very first premier of ASIB in Venice, and tells me that he watched the new ASIB… Of course, I was like “Yeah, Yeah, you’re full of sh*t” (Applause TS tease).:triggered: But here’s some background: He’s a commercial plumber that does work for massive companies… But then he goes on to tell me details that are unique to this incarnation of ASIB including singing a part of INLA… And it was all RIGHT. I still don’t know if he actually saw it, but he certainly had all the details right, and after put things together I was definitely SHOOK.:saladga:

Here’s an interesting part of what I wanted to discuss with you girls….. So my Dad still thinks he likes the Streisand version better than Gaga’s… Now I’ve seen both of them and Gaga’s is so much better I thought he had to be kidding. But he wasn’t. And my Grandma said the same thing. There is something about Gaga, to the GP, that she can't be as good or her music can’t be as good as music that was made in their generation. But that’s just not true. And it really p*sses me off. The movie was better, and so was the music. It’s okay to admit that you liked a Lady Gaga movie -- like you won’t go to h*ll for admitting it. Seriously.:interestinga:

This honestly wasn’t meant to be an essay. If you’re still reading, thanks lol. Tell me what you think the GP’s problem is with completing hopping onboard the bandwagon of a Lady Gaga movie… Cause it certainly is confusing to me.

I like to look at this in their point of view.

It may not necessarily be because of Gaga.  It is more likely of their personal experience during the older versions. They were younger,  healthier and carried fond memories of the time when they watched the movie with their friends or family. It was a different experience and it brought about different kinds of emotions.

I imagine it will be the same for you if in 2060 they make a new version and you watch it and will think Gaga did it better still despite the new version being 4D and you get to go inside the film like some virtual reality audience.

I really enjoyed your review too and you made sure to make all members of your family watch.  :)
