IMDB Top 250:

177. A Star Is Born (+3)

Beating Gone Girl and How to Train Your Dragon. Only one other movie from 2018 managed to get into the all time list  (Infinity War at #49)

Do you know how the submissions work? Is it like the Grammys where they can choose what they submit? If so, it would be interesting to see if they just submitted one song.

The film producers choose what to submit in each category (though Warner Bros is of course behind that decision).

Industry experts have been saying that WB is pushing three songs (Shallow, INLA, MIT) for awards season. Kinda similar to La La Land's strategy: COS, Audition, Another Day of Sun

Is this based on its user score?

Yeah, but I don't really understand their formula, as ASIB has a 8,4 rate, while on the Top 250 chart they show it as 8,1. Possibly as it only has 41000 votes, they somehow weight it. As it gets more and more votes it will fly up the chart, if it stays at the same 8,4 score.

Yes the vote splitting potential is risky. However it is worth noting that several films have had multiple nominations for Best Original Song. Fame, Flashdance, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Philadelphia, The Lion King, Slumdog Millionaire, La La Land all had two or more nominations and they all won the category.

Yentl, Footloose, The Bodyguard, Dreamgirls and The Princess and the Frog are the only films that received multiple nominations that didn't win in their given year. So actually, I wouldn't say it necessarily harms or helps the chances if there was more than one nomination since most films that got more than one nom ended up taking it home... It's tricky

BODYGUARD!?!? Oscar's cancelledt. For real...

Nope like 17k+ TEA and 25k+ SEA

i dont think we’ll ever see another album do more than 20k TEA ever again. Like ever.

ASIB is already the 175th biggest R-Rated movie in the US, beating the likes of classics like Flashdance or Mystic River

Oh I confused TEA and SEA.

I meant 20K TEA and 25K SEA

(ADELE's new album will probably do 50K TEA or even more though)

You mean "I will always love you"?

Ugh fml

Edit: I Will Always Love You was a cover and therefore wasn't eligible. I Have Nothing and Run To You were big but didn't really represent the movie so I guess that's why the Aladdin song won
