Oh, I didn't mean slur as in bad word.

I meant slurring words as in carrying forward vowels, not saying enough consonants. It's just a laziness thing. For example, saying "library" as "liberry" (many Americans do this). Usually slurs make a word unclear and hard to understand.

Also I learned British English so I slightly get the francophone part

As a singer, I often do this! I try to be as true to native pronunciation as possible but sometimes it becomes much easier to sing if you pronounce something differently. I've sung a few songs in Italian (since I was 13).

I’m from the USA and I could not understand them either so don’t feel bad. They had a southern drawl which I have trouble with.

I’m born and raised in the US and couldn’t understand anything Sam Elliot was saying, particularly after Bradley punches him I had no idea what Bradley was mad about or Sam was retaliating with. I’ve watched the film three times and still don’t pick up on the actual words they’re using (besides f*cking f*ck f*ck f*cking f*cker ) but eventually figured it out with context clues and the help of my friend with a southern drawl

She also pronounces "des yeux" like "dae yeux". Nobody says that in french. There's a liaison between the 2 words : So it's usually pronounced "dae z'yeux"... Hey Gaga, let's put more "z" here and less in "bae-zé" (which indeed means "kiss" or "f*ck", depending on the context) ! The rest of the song has slight mistakes here and there, but yeah, it's totally cute !

And I'll be lost in the movie too without subtitles, especially with Sam Elliot stache-drawl !

I think he said that his fathers' grave had washed away in a bad storm, and that he'd told Jackson, but Jackson had been stone drunk and incapable of comprehension, so he'd had to sell the ranch since once the grave was gone there was no use keeping it.

I've a native English speaker and could understand them just find but totally get why you struggled. It doesn't help that they have lower voices that are more monotone.

OMG, same. I can't believe no one had mentioned it before. I couldn't make out what Bradley and Sam were saying half the time either. French is my first language as well (fellow Quebecer here ), but I'm fluent and I usually have no trouble understanding most accents in English, I always watch American/UK movies in their original versions, but all the mumbling was killing me, especially Sam Elliott's. I'm definitely gonna have to watch the movie with subtitles when it comes out on DVD/VOD

I would be so annoyed if I was in the same position. Luckily I learned English early on as a kid by watching kids shows on the BBC and shows with subtitles later on. I can understand most heavy accents, including British which is funny watching a show like Graham Norton for example when an American actor can't fully understand a Britisch guest with an accent.
