RAMROD 107,520
Hold on, who told you so? It looks like you had a conversation with Jimmy Iovine... She can argue with her record company all she wants, it won't change absolutely anything. At the end of the day, Interescope will choose the single they want, just like they choose what song should be part of the album. I think she should let Interscope do their job (most of the time, they know what they do, except for Sony Music), she can always sing what she wants on tour, and she's the one who decides how the music video should look like!! It's a win-win situation. Dunno about Interscope wanting it, but MTN was indeed to be the 1st single than BTW. One of my favorite songs on the album is the last song. It was originally going to be the first single. It's called "Marry the Night." It was produced by myself and Fernando Garibay. glamgirl 0
So many people here have said that Gaga and Interscope love each other and Interscope gave too much liberties to Gaga during BTW and they should watch her single choices more carefully during the next era etc. This letter proves it opposite. The truth is I don't think Gaga will stay at Interscope longer than she has the deal. Is it 4 albums?
StrawberryBlond 14,602
"...there was also of course the incessant dragging of the most important single of my career in dead-beaten-horse-mud." God, this is beautiful. I love her. Getting her innermost feelings across while still remaining amazingly classy is one of Gaga's many fortes. GodKira 0
Dunno about Interscope wanting it, but MTN was indeed to be the 1st single than BTW. I didn't know about that, I'm glad they chose BTW instead.
display name 4,360
I think she is referring to "Born This Way," not "Marry The Night." She said the single went through "incessant dragging." "Marry The Night" was not dragged like "Born This Way" was. "Marry The Night" mostly went under the radar. "Born This Way" was dragged by the media, drag queens, Hispanics, Madonna, Madonna fans, et cetera. It was her biggest hit on the charts, and I think there are at least a few reasons to say it has been the most important single of her career. "Marry The Night" will always be meaningful to her and to us, but her career was more dependent on "Born This Way," the first single of the album, even if it was not originally planned to have been the first.I apologize if the same thing has been said countless times in this thread already, but I do not intend to go through all of the other sixteen pages. My thoughts are here.
Gagz 2,579
Anybody who thinks she's referring to MTN is lacking common sense. When on Earth was it dragged through the mud? She's talking about BTW- the most important song of her career.
high heeled fem 3
Okay, why apologize to me though? I wanna know who that friend and mentor that betrayed her are. Same Laurianne Gibson. I was thinking it was laurianne as well Umm where is Nicola in this story? Do you think he's still with her or he's one of them who want money and fame? I also wonder about this, where is he? i never see him anymore to be honest :nails:
6pawsup 0
I tried to keep my emotions in check when I read Gagas letter. It doesnt matter what song was dragged through the horse mud. What does matter is the fact that she was held back on her creative arts. I feel bad that she has experienced the most horrific of the Fame Monsters which is betrayal. I dont understand why anybody would carelessly hurt her. :( She has such a beautiful soul. And having a problem with her body image...if she could only see herself the way us Monsters see her she wouldnt feel that way. I am happy that she has overcome alot of the issues, and Im also happy that she knows we will always be there for her.
Woolfsmck 2,763
You know she probably gets a lot of that stuff for free, right? Exactly.... Pro atheletes get free gear because they advertise the product for them.... Gaga likely gets promo items because she is a walking advertisement .... Chiding her on what she buys with her own money however is another story.... like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. My words give a clue, look inside to see whats true
EnigmaMonstr 26
WHAT?????? There is NO WAY that Gaga wrote that!! NEVER - way too many typos and incorrect grammar which Gaga has NEVER EVER done. unless she was high or something. also Gaga would NEVER be so revealing about specific people in her life and trashing them publicly. I'm sure that sort of thing has happened to her - but she would never disclose it. again - either she was drunk or someone is again impersonating her - but this "letter from gaga" is total BS. just thought you should all know. You sir, sound retarded. <------ heres a face so you dont get butt hurt by that comment. Edited August 17, 2012 by MonsterAloud
MonsterofFame 1,785
Betrayed by lifelong friends, mentors I've had for years suddenly taking advantage of me, and a massive struggles with my body image. Take note everyone: she says mentors and friends in the plural sense, so she's talking about more than one person for each. I think the mentors are LAG and Rob Fusari. Friends she's talking about are Luc (even though they were more than that) and maybe even Nicola and Starlight. Did anyone notice how Tara is always with her now? Gaga never mentions the others now. Maybe Starlight sided with Luc on something (they're still friends) and someone on here mentioneda disagreement with Nicola.
Guest ADELEGEND
My hypothesis... "directors who could only create an idea of "gaga" or what i've "done before" and not able to move forward..." Joseph Kahn "The most important single of my career in dead-beaten-horse-mud..." All I can think of is MTN, but that ball of mediocrity is HARDLY her most important single, BTW is, but I don't think it was being dragged in fact it was her best promoted single "mentors I've had for years suddenly taking advantage of me..." Definitely Madonna "betrayed by lifelong friends..." Laurie Anne Gibson? Rob Fusari? "record label disagreeing with me on single choices..." For not releasing Scheibe? Well she should have THANKED her label for not releasing that. Can anyone help me with this? So is it official that Gaga herself thinks the Born This Way era is a catastrophe? Shaney 5,515
Mentors taking advantage of me Do I sense her referring to Madonna? Good letter. I love u Gaga. I'm one of the sweet monsters. Since when is Medoner Gaga's mentor :laughga:
Nemo 4,273
"The most important single of my career in dead-beaten-horse-mud..." All I can think of is MTN, but that ball of mediocrity is HARDLY her most important single, BTW is, but I don't think it was being dragged in fact it was her best promoted single It is absolutely and unambiguously a reference to BTW. Yes, it was a success, but Gaga still feels the message was undermined by the Express Yourself comparisons. This is very clear in context and from other remarks she's made. (For one thing, she has specific superlatives for different singles from the era -- IIRC, BTW was "most important", "You and I" was "the best song I've written", MTN was her "favorite", etc. She used these descriptions pretty consistently. Some fans didn't get it, and thought she was contradicting herself -- just calling her current single the best each time -- but that wasn't the case.) "mentors I've had for years suddenly taking advantage of me..." Definitely Madonna Again, Madonna was never her mentor. So is it official that Gaga herself thinks the Born This Way era is a catastrophe? Not at all. She was frustrated by certain things that happened, and had some personal problems going on at the same time, but that doesn't invalidate the achievements she did have.
