All new invitees are either women, people of colour or under 39, who if they accept by November 15 will be eligible for voting in the 2019 Grammy Awards. This comes after the CEO of the Recording Academy infamously said that women need to 'step up' in the music game following only one major award being given out to a woman this year, the Best New Artist award which was given to Alessia Cara. Interestingly I do think this may affect it. I didn't go too far into detail in the OP but apparently there is also diversity in terms of the background, new types of artists, songwriters and producers.
