The best part of the ASIB pop tracks

Is that the "Dope" vocals are nowhere to be seen. She puts on that voice for certain songs and performances but on her pop tracks, she sounds like she did earlier in her career. The good sis sounds 22 again. HBF could easily be a TF/TFM outtake, not just production-wise but vocally. I'm shook.

She clearly has a different voice for more pop songs, and I'm so glad to hear it again instead of that throaty "46 year old woman stumbling out of a bar with a pack of cigarettes" chortle. She has such a range she doesn't express when she doesn't venture out into her pop voice! It's so masterful.

Why would you want her to sound 22? She's 32 lol

I don't want her to sound 22 necessarily, but 22 was when she was putting out the most songs with clear pop vocals in her career.

I don't think the vocals on The Fame were clear at all. They were clearly altered in the studio to make Gaga sound more marketable. And she confirms it

Surely beyond the semantics you know what I mean. She puts on the Dope voice and it comes out with less smoothness and clarity than her pop work. During her TF/TFM performances even, she wasn't putting on that Dope voice.

I noticed that too!! It proves that her voice is not demaged at all she's basically in her vocal prime now

And i also love how much she uses her head voice in this era :diane: she didn't really use it earlier in her carear so some people thought that her head voice is weak but it's not :firega:

I get what you mean, they're different styles of singing. But I guess I just don't agree with you. Dope's vocals are very particular to that song, it's meant to sound as if she was drunk (maybe she was, idk) so it fits the overall concept of the song. I don't think there's any of that on Joanne. On Joanne, she's using more vibratto and letting her true voice come out, instead of being concerned with softness and being sellable to radios. I think I prefer that, but it's ok to disagree.

Also, there are songs on Joanne where her voice is very soft, like Hey Girl.

It's not exclusive to Dope or the albums, a lot of her performances use the Dope style nowadays. There are some songs where it stylistically works, others where it doesn't. Most of what we've been getting from Gaga since Dope/Joanne is performances anyway, so that's why it's dominant in my mind above her album work. Plenty of Joanne songs don't use that style, true.

That's what I was thinking! I wonder if she trained her head voice between the beginning and now. Maybe she didn't have the confidence to use it back then or wasn't trained to do it, and now she can? Or it's possible she always had the ability but never had the confidence to use it either way.

Whatever the reason, its more plentiful occurrence now is making this look like/be a vocal peak for her! She's literally getting better with age in terms of vocal talent. Which makes sense for power singers, whose voice is meant to peak in their 40's. I'm not sure what she would be classified as or when she should actually peak.
