Gaga seems not authentic or natural in interviews at all...

Don't know how to put it... Don't get me wrong, I think she is trying to protect herself and that's okay. Despite how awesome she is, sometimes her interviews come off very robotic and forced or exaggerated. Repetitive. I don't know how to explain it, but it makes me feel awkward... It's almost her acting as Ally in the movie is more true to herself than she tries to appear in interviews sometimes, especially lately. It feels staged and not natural to me. And it might be different with journalists who she trusts or are friends, but the Ellen interview appeared so strange somehow, even if I know she is friends with her. I do believe in private and with her fans she is very different, but capitalist patriarchal Hollywood is full of fake people, so this is why she needs to act like that in her mind, probably. But she *is* authentic and a true artist. It just comes off the wrong way sometimes because all she wants is to be nice and polite and good.

I think now she is trying to really put herself out there as Lady Gaga the actress instead of as a singer or musician. I hope eventually she doesn't have to separate the two.

I think you've answered your own question (if that was a question). She's been hurt and betrayed so many times now that she's put up a barrier to protect herself.

All thanks to people like Perez Hilton and Madonna

Well, she is a woman, she's not 23 anymore. People change, experiences like hers change you.

I feel like it has something to do with her PTSD/anxiety

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

I feel like this such a non-issue that everyone seems adamant on exploring. She gets more serious and solemn when she talks about her work, as you do. A Star Is Born isn't her own expression, she simply does not want to speak over Bradley, or at least not as much as she would if she was talking about her own album. She's doing her job to be taken seriously as an actress and I don't think that's a bad thing at all.

Also as I said in the other thread it seems repetitive because there's only so many anecdotes you can talk about when you're being asked the same question again and again. She has to get the same core message out every time since the public, the target for these press interviews, will likely only see one or two. We're only noticing it for her because we're keeping up with every single interview she does.

I don't think this is a new behavior, she has always been awkward and aloof in interviews. Which is why impersonations of her without visual ques never work.

She is a great artist and performer, but not a conversationalist or big personality. Which is fine.

I have to laugh.

Perhaps she's more reserved now and definitely more mature, but she's super easygoing and chill.

She's also very gracious and humble. I don't see how that could come off as "inauthentic"

I totally agree, throughout her career she has gone through so many stages of coming across really contrived and then she slowly sort of, goes back to normal. I think she's just massively insecure and now this acting door has opened in her life, I think is making her feel massively nervous. They do say that actors become actors because its easier to play another character than it is themselves..so perhaps thats why she likes acting so much.

I think she is more rehearsed these days as she got into the habit of going off track quite a lot, for instance during the AP era an interviewer would ask a simple question and she would answer with about 100 things unrelated to what had been asked. I feel by having a set of rehearsed responses shes more efficient and tends to stay on topic.

Not the bore worms!

To be fair, all interviewers ask her the same questions over and over again. That's why she seemed more authentic and easy going in the 'burning questions' game. Cause she was asked simple real life questions :selena: And that's not even new. Joanne era was basically 'father's daughter' repeated 100 times over the course of 2 months.
