But I am betting A Star Is Born opens much higher, closer to $50 million range in fact, with Venom coming in close to the same territory, meaning either film could potentially wind up winning the weekend. I'm so bullish on A Star Is Born, I'm going to bet on at least a 3x final multiplier, maybe higher, and a final domestic box office north of $150 million. Low-end, I'd expect north of $100 million in North America for sure. Worldwide, it's harder to say. On the one hand Gaga has a large global fanbase but an adult drama of this sort can either catch fire and have a good run or wind up lost in the shuffle in some key markets. But I simply can't bet against this movie, it feels like a sure-fire hit so I'm going to expect foreign audiences mostly embrace it too, for a final worldwide tally easily north of $200 million and hopefully north of $300 million.
