Just for the people who may not know or are complaining that someone didn’t get nominated. The AMA awards are literally based on Billboard chart data from September of 2017 to August of 2018.

Billboard states:

“American Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions as reflected on Billboard.com, including streaming, album and digital song sales, radio airplay, social activity and touring. These measurements are tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound, and reflect the time period of September 15, 2017 through August 9, 2018.”

It’s fair, and if one of ur other favs wasn’t nominated, well....maybe they should’ve sold and streamed more.

For example for top female, it’s Taylor, Cardi and Camila. These were the top female artists statistically from September 2017 to August 2018

I thought everyone knew but that thanks for the meltdown prevention :sis:

I saw an article on E! About there being “snubs” and I’m like, how can there be snubs if it’s based on data :icega:

Like yeah, Ariana didn’t get nomintated, but that’s cuz her album came out after this time period. Do ya research E!

Why did they add Rap/Hip Hop artists to the Pop/Rock categories though? (like Cardi being up for Female Pop/Rock :/...)

Over.

So Gaga actually got that nomination from the Superbowl effect? :oprah:

That’s just how they’ve done it for the past 10 years because of the low representation of female rappers.

Joanne was a highly succesful album numbers wise compared to other females. So that’s what put her on top. The super bowl after sales were just a side dish of help

It also didn’t hurt that women flopped from September 2016 to august 2017 lol. Joanne was the best selling female album between that time

No I don't think Joanne alone would have been enough. We have to add the SB effect and ofc The Cure.

the BBMAs are also based on Billboard stats. Might as well just stop all award shows and combine them into one since the result is always the same.

Yupp, it’s basically just looking at the top stats at opposite times of the year

Yeah. Lets hope ASIB can put Gaga in the Top 3 females for this coming year. The album will probably be nominated in the Soundtrack category as well!

For sure it all helped, but a song that peaked at #39 is not gonna have much affect lol overall, nor will two weeks of increased sales following the half time show. The fame continued to do well the rest of the year, so i will say that probably helped more than anything else that wasn’t Joanne era related

I can def see it getting the soundtrack category. And Billboard will actually count all soundtrack sales as a solo Lady Gaga album and as a solo Bradley Cooper album because of how it’s credited as “lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper”, same thing happened with cheek to cheek.  So it’ll help for sure
