Henry Cavill Out As Superman!

The DC cinematic universe appears to be losing its Man of Steel.

Henry Cavill, who has played Superman in three films, is parting ways with Warner Bros., sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. Though neither side is confirming, the British actor, who first donned the blue suit for 2013's Man of Steel, and then starred in 2016's Batman v. Superman and last year's Justice League, is said to be hanging up the red cape.

Warners had been trying to enlist Cavill, who most recently co-starred in Mission: Impossible — Fallout, for a Superman cameo in Shazam!, which stars Zachary Levi and will bow April 5. But contract talks between Cavill's WME reps and Warners broke down, and the door is now closing on other potential Superman appearances.

From a business perspective this is a choice. I mean leaving a superhero franchise and joining a Netflix series? And now the dceu has lost their superman and I think their Batman too.

Looks like WB is abandoning DCEU altogether with this and their plan not to make any Superman movies for several years at least 

Like, what is JLA without Batman and Supes?!

He was awesome as Superman, kinda wish he'd stay, it'd be an instantly recognisable and remembered role for him for the rest of his career.

Agreed, and very true from a Cinematic Universe POV, but I have to give a slight edge to DC for their comics and animated shows.

They have a great repertoire of comics, characters, and animated shows/movies (Batman Beyond anyone?). Their comics have depth and darkness to them and stand in contrast to the more light-hearted nature of Marvel comics (who are my current favorite of the two of course thanks to the MCU).

What DC is doing is attempting to copy Marvel's formulas rather than strive for their own a la The Dark Knight series or Wonder Woman, which had their own unique "DC tone" to them.

I respect DC's history but whole-heartedly stan Marvel. I grew up watching X-Men and Spider-Man so Marvel always has my heart

Yeah, I should have specified that because I agree. I grew up on DC comics and cartoons and I like the Justice League heroes more but their movies are really not the tea.
