9-Year-Old Boy Commits Suicide After Homophobic Bullying

This is truly upsetting and heartbreaking. I remember having to hide my homosexuality in school knowing how little help teachers could bring to the situation if I was to be bullied. I think LGBT acceptance needs to be taught a lot more in schools.

I see horrible things like this a lot and it needs to stop, like there was a group of people on Facebook threatening a transgender pupil for having to use the female toilets. It's just despicable.

Children aren't born homophobic, it's either because their parents are homophobic or haven't taught their children to not be. Homophobia urgently needs to stop being passed down the generations. Fortunately, people have started to be more accepting these days but that doesn't mean homophobia never happens still.

May this sweet innocent boy rest in peace, and may LGBT acceptance rise

Honestly I think homeschooling would be appropriate for some gay or gender nonconforming children. It just feels like mainstream schools aren't good for LGBT people.

Never say that kind of crap again, please.

Like why not putting us in concentration camps while we are at it? :saladga:

Not to sound disrespectful, I'm literally just wondering, but how do you know if you're gay before puberty kicks in?

I wish I was there to stand up for him. Nobody did for me at school. And obviously nobody did for him.

You know this is just my opinion, right?

Awful. Truly dispicable that children do this to others. Nine year old children should not have to deal with ***holes like this. No one should have to. The school system really needs to do something, not just damage control.

I just realised you're younger than me!

Is that you in your profile photo? If so I thought you were 18-19:icega:

That J

I'm sure anyone would have if they knew or were brave enough but we have to pay attention to others and be BRAVE and stand up and support our young people!  ALL people. If we see bullying happen, step up or get help.

That boy deserved help.  Anyone being bullied deserves help.  Bless his family. Breaks my heart.

but we don’t need gay pride anymore.... we don't need little flags in some places to show support, yeah no that doesn't have its place in 2018...

rest in peace :'(

no no no, this really makes me so upset and it takes a lot for that to happen.. kids are taught to hate when they should be taught to love/be accepting of people for there "differences"  i unfortunately endured my share of bullying for this when i was younger so i understand it happens but thats not the point and seriously wish in 2018 it didn't happen..

condolences to his family in this horrify time cause its just not right or fair to be treated like this to the point of taking your own life :ohno:

This is sad but also true, I teach at an alternative school and a much higher % of the kids here are LGBT than public or traditional private schools. Some of the kids are high IQ and used to go to high performance private schools, but transferred here because they are gender nonconforming or visibly queer and had problems at their other schools bc of it.

The good news is that our school has become a close knit community of a very supportive student body because of it. Most of our students experienced their own school struggles for different reasons before they came here so they are really welcoming to kids who are different.

It sucks that they have to find alternative places and people can't just accept others who look/act different, but it's great to see them grow and find themselves in a place that accepts them.

9 years old. This is so awful to read, I feel so bad for his family really...
I wish teachers were more careful about bullying at school, many lives would be saved a some lives would definitely be better.
