but the thing is only WE are the ones with these expectations. not the gp. they do not have acting expectations of lady gaga. i dont see how you think this one review is going to be read by every moviegoer and build up their expectations

Yeah that’s why I specified ‘the fanbase and movie circles’.

"The undeniable standout is Lady Gaga, whose performance here goes far beyond what we typically think of as great acting and moves into the territory of, say, Gena Rowlands in A Woman Under the Influence. The role requires her to play every note on the emotional scale from the depths of despair to the joyous exuberance, and Gaga is flawless in every scene. Her work proves the cliché about the specific becoming universal, as she plays each moment in surprising, unique ways and makes bold choices no other actress would conceive of, yet gives each of those moments a profound and affecting sense of recognition for the audience – every triumph and every heartbreak feels utterly honest and relatable, and it all builds to one of the most emotionally shattering finales I’ve ever encountered in a movie"

me right now ... no words. this is what she deserves, finally....

I can't believed it got removed! The guy is probably in some deep **** for posting the review too early.
Do some of you guys know how movie reviewers work? Do they prepare their review early like that? Why would it be posted than remove! Promotional stunt by WB to hype the movie?

Okay guys, I did a bit research on his reviews that were counted to Rotten Tomatoes. It seems that he has a very UNIQUE taste for films.:air:

41 out of his 107 reviews were the opposed to the final T-Meter (Certificated Fresh / Fresh / Rotten). By saying opposed, I mean his rating being Fresh while T-Meter being rotten or the reverse. It seems that he likes exaggerating things.:toofunny:

For example:

Take with a grain of salt sis. But I hope he is accurate about ASIB lol.

I've been through his letterboxed. I definitely disagree with him on quite a few movies, but all of the films he gave 5 stars to (as he did with ASIB) are all absolutely 5 star films.

We can twist stats around whichever way but I think this pov is more appropriate than the RT percentage.

Nnnnn yikes :messga: Someone put this in the OP so we don't get our hopes up too much

This is a poor way to calculate whether a critic is decent or not. His scores can't be properly compared with the overall tomato meter. They represent completely different things.

Ziggy

I’m only confused about why she seems so surprised about the ending of the film. She’s acting like there aren’t two other ASIB movies to give you a hint as what’s to happen or something :laughga:

That J

There has been NOTHING but raves from what we have all heard the past months and just look at the trailer.

You can feel the depth.  I could.  This is gonna be a heavy film. We are all going to pass out in the aisles. Lol

I've thought more about this and I'm just worried this review will backfire, honestly. It comes across as so ridiculously positive that it's setting up the movie for failure, i.e. if it's not unbelievably spectacular then it'll be disappointment to the fanbase and film circles. The claims are just... so much to live up to. Gaga on the same calibre as one of the best female performances of all time? Bradley compared to the greatest directors of all time? I hope this is not too debbie-downery but we've seen how early rave reviews eventually led to generally favorable reviews in the past with 5F2.

It's weird that this is posted so early. IIRC Warner Bros placed an embargo on all reviews until the 31st, when it premiers at Venice. It seems that the reviewer is breaking an NDA, either on purpose or as accidentally as a post queue error perhaps?

Anyway, we'll see whether other critics think the same soon enough.

I just wish this guy posted this review after Venice. :cryga:

am I the only one who cannot be directed to the original article?
It says page not found.. maybe you're right.
