This did change my life. Didn’t make me smarter or make me learn some great lesson about life, but it made me recognize that I could have my own tastes, opinions and personality. Made me start realizing who I was as a person, that I was kinda different from others and that it was ok (because I live in a very small conservative town) - and could actually be fun.

(And, yes, I’m old :selena:)

I’ll keep looking for Wonderland

Mylène Farmer - ‘Innamoramento’

the album is by French Queen of Pop Mylène Farmer. While I don’t completely understand French, it’s helped me alot. The album is mainly new wave with some elements of alternative rock, electronica, pop, techno and gothic rock.

The album deals with many topics such as death, the Holocaust, and incest.

Favorite Songs

Pas le temps de vivre - this is actually my favorite song of hers. It’s about the passing of her brother and dealing with such a loss. I first heard it at the time of a passing of a family member who i love very much :noparty:

Souviens-toi du jour - based on the book ‘If This is a Man’ by Holocaust survivor Primo Levi, it deals with remembering the faults and the inhumanity of mankind. While the theme seems rather sad, the instrumental sounds very nice and danceable while also very poweful.

Optimistique-moi - this song is a very powerful and hard hitting song. It deals with a relationship between a child and her parents. It’s kind of like a dialogue between her mother and herself with her mother criticizing her (Mylène), with her father comforting her but also doing very awful things (incest)

I really hope you give it a listen :worship2:

This one sounds interesting. Giving a listen later:vegas:

You know this is just my opinion, right?

no album has changed anything for me. the closest thing music has come to changing my life is lady gaga in general. She changed my interests and made me start giving a crap about pop culture. Before her i barely knew what albums and singles were, and I only started stanning a few months ago! lmao

do you have a genre of music you really like? you can explore different artists and maybe one will catch your attention.

I also used to only really stan Gaga then i started to explore different artists and learned what types of music i really like! :)

ARTPOP

First album I ever listened to as whole and bought and the first (and only time) I've ever found an artist I truly believed in and could stan. In terms of the album's content, I heard so many new sounds and developed a passion for music, as well as learning to appreciate artistic expression, even through music. Also the first time I fell in love with art

woop hey there keep scrolling

I like pretty much everything except country. I listen to a lot of very different music. electronic, acoustic, big band, hip hop, classical, pop and metal i think are my favorites. I already had a big and diverse taste in music before gaga, she just made me a lot more interested in pop is what i meant. also before gaga i had only one other favorite artist which was logic. but i was never obsessed with logic like i am with gaga. she made me interested in choreography, fashion (somewhat), award shows, music videos, music fandoms, concerts, she made me consider buying music for the first time ever.

So back to my original point, no album alone has done anything for me, it was the entire package that is lady gaga. i mean im following fan accounts on twitter, and im using this website frequently ffs. no mostly straight man should be on this **** lmao.

I’ll get crap for this one but this was one of two happy things in my life at the time and was the first time music gave me a true escape. Plus, the first time I heard Say You’ll Be There on headphones popped my music-gasm cherry.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/mechanical-animals/1077804860

https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/garbage-20th-anniversary-edition-remastered/1034974680

I needed weird and angry as much as I needed happy and that’s where my Mansons came in - Marilyn and Shirley gave me lyrics that made me think and made me realize I wasn’t the only one who thought about the world and religion the way I did.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/little-plastic-castle/1208781094

https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/knuckle-down/1208764426

These two came at different times in my life but the Little Folksinger’s way with words has always captivated me and each of these albums had messages in their lyrics that I needed at the time.

Poe - such a victim of the music industry. This album taught me how dark music could be and the song Wild still makes me sadly horny?? Idk what it is but damn.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/ray-of-light/952887

Yeah yeah..... first Madonnna album I ever listened to - the Frozen video and the song itself hooked me. My parents taught me she was the devil - this album taught me me they were wrong about her and what she represented in pop culture at the time.

In a lot of ways TFM restores my faith in music - I wasn’t in love with Just Dance or The Fame/Lady Gaga in general at first. I was so disillusioned with the whole cookie cutter industry but Bad Romance and DITD and eventually the Monster Ball got me hooked. This album and Gaga overall managed to combine much of what I love and needed from all of the music above in one form or another. Idk why I wrote so much even but oh well, there it is.

Everyone saying ARTPOP

That album was a life changer for me tbh. I had just come out of high school but I was still carrying all this baggage with me everywhere I went. Depression, sexual abuse, addiction, toxic relationships, etc. Then that September, I rediscovered Gaga right before Swinefest and I was sure to catch it.

Swine destroyed me. That speech before she performed it took my breath away. I was in literal tears by the time the song started  Then as the songs were released from the album up until the album actually dropped I came to love it more and more. It's just such a personally weighted album :flutter: All the little moving parts and influences within the era, performances, every little lyric and sound, and the visuals. They're all stunning. Where as BTW was more of a "how do I fit into this society?", ARTPOP was more of a "who...or what do I see when I look in a mirror? Who do I want to see? How do I bring them to life?"

It really helped me make peace with a lot of my demons and I think going to the artRAVE and the events that unfolded before and after the show helped me to mature a lot. Whenever I feel down, whenever I relapse (which, confession time, has happened a couple times in the last few months :S), whenever I think of him or anyone else that's done me wrong, ARTPOP always helps me feel a little better.

Playing Dope or Swine on the piano is easily the most therapeutic thing I do these days, especially when I tack on a bit of I Wanna Be With You, Til It Happens to You, or Princess Die

💔thought we'd last a lifetime when I'm mumbling alone💔

Mister Gaga

21 by Adele taught me about love and helped me accept my sexuality.

Also, Gaga's Born This Way changed my perception about life and it made me realize how glorious life is.

Tove Lo - Queen Of The Clouds

This album helped my broken heart, I was sad in 3 years after my x-boyfriend broke up with me because he find a prettier guy. This album helped me to move forward with life, boys and confidence! Now I feel better, prettier and stronger. This is my favourite album and it really changed my life!
