disco-de-vinilo-madonna-confessions-on-a

This was my very first album.

I bought it when I was 10 years old. You can imagine the 10-year-old me going to the CD store and asking if they had the newest Madonna album :flutter:

I bopped in my room to Hung Up and Sorry everyday after school.

I played so many times this album. Literally, a lot.

I used to do homework with this playing on.

This was my first lesson on what a good pop album/pop song is. It changed my life

No album changed my life, but a few influenced me.

Born To Die by Lana was the first "indie" album I heard. Without her I wouldn't be into progressive/alternative artists from all different genres, including progressive rock. After Lana I learned that being strange/dark is cool. It sounds silly but it really changed my perception as a teenager.

Born This Way teached me that it's okay to be gay/loud/weird/even stupid. That album introduced me to fashion acts like Versace and McQueen and photographers like Nick Knight and Steven Klein. I love fashion ever since.

Other albums that influenced my taste are Visions by Grimes, Crystal Castles II, Led Zeppelin I, Master of Puppets, American Life, In Utero, For Emma Forever Ago, Homogenic, Ceremonials, Rid of Me, To Pimp A Butterfly.

Might not cater to a forum that is majority pop, but this record has influenced my music taste greatly. Super folk and traditional American music, but I also love everything Everly Brothers and of course their rock n' roll records.

Michael Jackson - HiStory

it simply opened up the door to popmusic for me, i started to listen to the lyrics, read stories behind the meanings, was fascinated by his way of entertainment. he was really a enigmatic superstar and everything about him is still a mystery. i was 8 or 9 years when it came out and one of the first cds that i payed myself and not got gifted or copied.

The Fame - Gaga

she explaining how she always felt famous and like she already made it made me realize that i, in a way have that too. i´m in company of the greatest most talented friends you can imagine, we talk about music and art, do our projects, have access to the greatest possiblities and really just have a good time and live the life of the rich and famous.

Born This Way - Gaga

the obvious. but more the marry the night part. my coming out was already 10 years before the album.

Sia - All Albums

i might oint out the songs chandelier and "stop trying". really changed me.

Vanessa Petruo - Mama Lilla Would

way to complex to explain right now. worth a listen!

Mylène Farmer - ‘Innamoramento’

the album is by French Queen of Pop Mylène Farmer. While I don’t completely understand French, it’s helped me alot. The album is mainly new wave with some elements of alternative rock, electronica, pop, techno and gothic rock.

The album deals with many topics such as death, the Holocaust, and incest.

Favorite Songs

Pas le temps de vivre - this is actually my favorite song of hers. It’s about the passing of her brother and dealing with such a loss. I first heard it at the time of a passing of a family member who i love very much :noparty:

Souviens-toi du jour - based on the book ‘If This is a Man’ by Holocaust survivor Primo Levi, it deals with remembering the faults and the inhumanity of mankind. While the theme seems rather sad, the instrumental sounds very nice and danceable while also very poweful.

Optimistique-moi - this song is a very powerful and hard hitting song. It deals with a relationship between a child and her parents. It’s kind of like a dialogue between her mother and herself with her mother criticizing her (Mylène), with her father comforting her but also doing very awful things (incest)

I really hope you give it a listen :worship2:

I'm gonna listen to it right now. I've never listened to Mylène before.

I've only listened Alizée, Kendji Girac, Zaz, Émilie Simon, Louane, Emmanuel Moire and some couple of songs from others.

Do you think I should begin with this album or with another one?
