I was crazy excited when it was announced because of the colours and the way the announcement looked and everything

When the actual song dropped I was confused because it was the first time I was disappointed by a Gaga lead single :emma: Like 3 minutes later it ended and it hadn’t felt like anything special to me so I was like “what just happened :duck:”. I remember @AyaKara and I and more members were in the GGD chat room when it was debuting on a radio station :O

You’re my spirit animal.

Although I wouldn’t say it’s anywhere near a favorite Gaga song, prob top 5 or 10

I'm gonna be honest, I was a bit disappointed. I was and still am confused as to why they chose that as the lead.

It was too loud and her vocals were way over-the-top for me.

The only part I did like was the middle part before the key change, the "where are you cause I can't see" part since it was a breath of fresh air from the heavy vocals.

But as time went on I got used to it. It goes off now and I can appreciate it. It was just a poor single choice.

it's been the first song of hers that has given me goosebumps like Bad Romance did back in 2009

On the first listen I thought is not that good and it's repetitive and I was like "Gaga sweetie...what have you done". But then it grew so much on me :vegas:

I don't listen to it too often because Perfect Illusion is a song that NEEDS to be played loud as f*ck and just headbang and sing along.

I liked it at first. Then I started loving it. Then it was one of my favorite songs EVER

All within 10 minutes :vegas:

The song debuted 15 mins before my final exam :messga:

I still didn't give fck about my exam and listened to it through the radio app :messga:

I was- :messga: Confused :messga:

They played it again and I listed to it again and I was still confused about it :messga:

Then I remember my friend dragging me into the exam :messga:

I was confused throughout my exam :messga:

Someone send this thread to Gaga. She probably thinks we hate the song cause we let it flop :air: #AddPItoEnigmaChallenge

It was morning and I quickly got on Youtube and searched for Perfect Illusion (was a new fan at that time). I remember having it at a low volume because everybody else in the house was sleeping and thought that I clicked on the wrong video because there was no way a Gaga song would sound like that. :messga:

I love it now though, it was a perfect illusion :vegas:

the beginning of the Joanne era was perfect the hype was strong and I was ready

I stayed up til the morning because the song came out around 5/6 and I couldn't stop listening to it and Perfect Illusion is still one of Gaga's best songs ever imo

I remember it so clearly. So happy and excited that Gaga was gonna have a number 1 song. The name Perfect Illusion sounds like a masterpiece. We were going to have an Magnum Opus and Bad Romance will be forgotten. I told my big bro that Gaga has a new song but before that decided to listen alone so will have an idea about it. and was shocked cos it was not what i expected. I didn't like it. so my big bro too :(

my only explanation was '' This album is about her aunt Joanne, so you can't expect pop songs, her next album is going to be amazing. and he said '' You said it when Applause came too. and I decided to shut up.''

But i think it was the worst choice of first single from the album. There were many other beautiful songs on Joanne and GP didn't even heard them. Like Dancing in Circles.

I remember it was 5am for me, I woke up just to listen to it. And I had to move to my new apartment the same day. I was so excited, I was not really a fan of the verses but when the chorus came, I fell in love. All day I kept singing "It wasn't looove, it wasn't looove".

I wasn't. I was waiting for the Chorus. But it was what I thought it was the Pre-Chorus. 😆

Same :messga:

I loved the single cover (unlike many members at that time), and the teaser had me hyped, but the song itself was a letdown. I still don't enjoy it very much because the chorus feels weak compared to other Gaga songs, and yet it makes up about 80% of the song :laughga:

I loved and still like the bridge though.

The time when it dropped was just after I got into Gaga's discography. I didn't really have a formed opinion of the song, I didn't hate it but I also didn't love it. :laughga:
